Default Made a steel skid plate for the Gen8

Last night I made a skid plate for the Gen8. I did it pretty quickly just as a test to see if it made much difference with pushing on the rocks and protecting the servo arm. I think its made from 1/8" steel so it put some good weight on the front. The aluminum I had was too thin and flexy. Also the hole spacing was just roughed out, It was getting late and I rushed through drilling the holes. I may remake it without the holes since they did catch on rocks a few times. First photo is from straightening it out on my anvil. My other hobby is blacksmithing, although RC Crawling has obsessed me over the past 2 months.

That came out nice well done. I ended up buying the skid but yours looks nice and should get the job done just as well.

Take it easy

If you relocate the servo you don't need to protect the servo horn you can fix the geometry while your in there and eliminate the bump steer so instead of hindering your performance you can increase your performance and make your rig stronger at the same time

I watched a bunch of YT videos last night actually about steering mods and even saw someone on my IG feed with a different servo mount. I also studied your posts about the mods you have done. How is relocating the servo done?

I see a few 3d printed parts available.. but its hard to know what works and what doesn't.

you need to shave the front crossmember down about 1/16" then flip the servo horn and put tbe servo up front i ended up only using 2 screws to hold the servo in and there dosent seem to be any issues its a easy mod
