Default Gen8 77 F-150

Picked up the carisma F-150 body as it is the same wheel base as stock and it's a nice looking body. Used this also as my Dad had a 77 I learned to drive with and used to get my license.

The only issue I have with the gen8 is how the chassis and shock towers are. It makes it difficult to get the body to sit low enough. They should have used a 90mm shock and shorter towers. I'm planning on converting it.

Lot's to do. Just painted and set the grill on to see how it looks. Stole my set of white spokes and they look right at home on there.

Trying to decide what set of tires to run. 4.19 or 4.75. sits a hair tall for the 4.19 but I think with 90mn shocks it should be about right.

Getting closer. Need to rig up the mounting for the body, interior, etc.

It has that 70's ford high-boy look. I like it.

Took it outside for a test. Works great. Still a lot to do but I had to get it outside.

I was thinking about dropping the bed but I think I might leave it as is for now. To hide the shock towers I made a tool box out of styrene and 3d printed a cooler. Have a 70s Ford dash printing too finish off the interior.

I approve!
You know I got love for 70s f series. This one is a beaut! The chrome grill and bumpers are almost TOO nice!
Let me know how well that bedliner stays on those fenders. I have some and tempted to use it on my enduro fenders.

Nice work on that dash too!

*LMAO just noticed the SPRONG hahaha

Thanks. This is my Dad's 77. I put the tool box in the back as he was a mechanic and always hauling it around to help out his friends. He called it sprong so I had to put it on there. If I had a picture I would post it of the 1:1 but it came out pretty good.

i love unique names for cars/trucks.
my dad never really named his, but when successfully making it up a steep grade with a full load of camper/towing the myers toad, (302 f-150 was by no means a tow rig) he would just pat her gently on the center of the dashboard and say "good girl... goooood girl."

so my pop's 79 was just "girl"? lol

would love to hear the story behind why your pop called his 77 "sprong" it sounds hilarious.
*also just realized those fenders are 3D printed, not bedliner on lexan as i first suspected. very nice!

Sprong was actually a nickname he gave his brother when they were kids. At first it was to pick on him but it became his name. They had a strange way of greeting each other. Instead of saying hi or something they would growl "oi". They never said why but it had something to do with it.

When his brother passed away he inherited his 72 LTD and turned it into a street stock race car named Sprong. I was about 8 then I think. He used his scout ii to pull it with a towbar.

After a few years the car hit a wall and was totaled. He built a new car but at the same time he picked up the 77 F 150. He called it sprong and the new race car didn't get a name for some reason.

Not much of a story but that's where it originated.

The dash turned out pretty good. Have to wait a couple days for the paint to set up good and I will coat it in flat clear to take the shine off.

As per usual mg, your threads always kick off with a bang! Has there been a better looking truck than that 77 F150?

And in blue no less...

Awesome build! Love it.
You're going all out scaling it, if you do decide to do a drop bed you can use a cantilever setup in rear.

I made my own brackets and used 1/16 Revo parts and shocks.

The 4.19's look better too in my opinion. Lol

Thanks!

I tried to match Ford blue but it's a little dark. 77 is definitely my favorite.

Stage 2 will be the drop bed. Then I will change to shorter shocks and the drop bed. I started drawing one to 3d print but I have been busy lately so it's been slow.

It will probably stay as is for now when I get the interior in.
