So, when I went to the little 1.55 tires, I found out the little Proline’s and their super soft and plush foam were no match for my overweight AXE… As soon as o put it on the ground, the tires went flat I started a thread about heavier duty foams, it didn’t get much traction, so I winged it. I ended up grabbing a set of the heavy duty Creepy Crawlers and I think they definitely live up to their word. I think I over estimated the weight of my little rig. I thought it was over 10lbs, looks like it’s only around 7lbs without the body and the battery. I mounted one of the new foams up and it was a bit too wide, I liked the height though. I made a jig and cut them a bit skinnier. Because they are so hard, I may have to cut them a little more to make them a little more conforming. I’ll run them as is for a bit. Pictures don’t do it justice, but the one I originally mounted up, got shorter and a bit wider. It was definitely trying to pull the headlocks apart The little sliver I cut off. It’s amazing the difference it made. Un-cut Crazy Crawlers stuffed in the Prolines Cut Crazy Crawlers Stock Proline Foams Crazy Crawlers in their original form |

2700kv Puller Pro Stubby and Mamba Micro X installed - Still some fine tuning to do. HH Puller Pro Stubby 2700kv w/ Mamba Micro-X My Driveshaft discussion. Gen8 AXE Driveshafts Just keeping all my "you know what" in a group. So far, she is coming along pretty well. I need to get the fender flares re-installed and then decide if I am going to retire the body for a while. It is getting some pretty nasty cracks showing up that need to be repaired. I have another one of these bodies I want to get painted up and start using, but I was thinking of holding off and ordering a 2 piece set. I really like the separation between the cab and bed on the two piece designs. Here she is parked next to the F450 Last edited by AK KRAWLER; 03-13-2022 at 02:14 PM. |

Last fall I picked up a set of KYX 1.9 bls and Chanbull Pitbull Rockbeasts. But the foams were not that great, but not to bad. Figured I'd try a set of Dirty Richards Med in F and Firm in R. Rig is 11lbs so these should help a lot over the stock foams. Anyone else using the Dirty Richards? |

Okay, well I’m switching gears on this rig again and going back to more of a modified crawler / trail rig. I have accepted the reality that the Redcat portal axles are just a bit too wide for the F150 body I have. If I’m going to build a scalper with the small 1.55 tires, it’ll likely have to be with some different axles. I tried the 2700kv Puller Pro, as well as a 1400kv Snubnose Revolver and was not happy with either one of them in the Gen8. Probably fantastic motors in the right application, but this wasn’t it. I swapped in the 27t 550 Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Expert and the BR-XL that I had purchased for my CEN F450. So far, I really like this combo in the Gen8. I also threw on an old set of 2.2 Imex Swamp Dawgs, these puppies are shore and wide. I think this will me a good winter combo and then swap over to some more crawler friendly tires this summer. |

Went out in the sunshine and did a little snow crawling. She did pretty darn good and was am pleased with it. Now it’s time to focus on the drivelines and transmission. |

I like the look of the swamp dawgs on there! Maybe find a more old school rim for them and it would look like a ton of the old mud boggers I would see years ago.

I got the Gen8 out on the beginnings of my summer krawler kourse. There was no real challenge yet, but when done, there will be plenty… |
