| Everest 10 newb
So like the title states and I'm a 100% newby to the whole RC world. I got a redcat everest 10 on order and I'm looking to replace all plastic drive train with metal. I got metal drive shafts, and trans gears comming, but thinking of leaving the plastic spur gear for a fail point that I believe will be easiest to replace, if I have to replace it too many times I'll go to metal. Honestly I'm looking for input for axel parts. What will be the easiest drop in parts that are all metal that will need little to no modifications to fit the axel housings that you seasoned folks have found.

Look for HSP 180009 on ebay if you want to replace the plastic "connect box." You can also get the redcat version with the same part number, but it is more expensive. The other axle parts that might be worth replacing are the c-hubs. Part number 180003. You could also consider replacing the wheel hexes with metal ones.

The dogbones in the axles are steel and not prone to break unless you modify the steering too much. Gears are metal in the axles.

what he sead on top of that there are some vary basic free mods you can do right out of tbe box till the upgrades start coming in first take the foams out of the tires then take the springs off the shocks and run in full droop if you feel crafty you can mod the skid plate and move the lower links in twards the middle of the skid plate to help reduce torque twist ive had my e10 for 4 years now the trans housing failed before the plastic trans gears gave out and the plastic locker is still holding and the dog bones are still in the front axle the only parts that failed were aftermarket parts i never even opened the front axle and there being moved to a tanka truck now lol and the e10 is getting new axles the suspention geomitry on these suck so any kinda aftermarket chassie will make a.world of differance or you can fiddle with the stock chassie and make it.work or you can just make one your self Last edited by ferp420; 12-15-2019 at 07:51 AM. |

Is there a replacement aluminum transmission housing available, or one from another brand that will fit with little or no mods

There are replacement aluminum housings. That being said, I haven't had the plastic housing fail (we have 4 Everest 10s between myself and my kids). Did break the plastic transmission gears on one and replaced with the steel ones.

the scx10 aluminum cases are $25-35 complete with metal gears and you just need to slot 2 of the holes Last edited by ferp420; 12-15-2019 at 10:20 PM. | |

HobbyPark is the best brand that I've found. You can get them on Amazon. See if you can find a part thats made by them, I'm looking into getting an Everest 10 as well, and will update once I have it with link for exact parts we've used.

I got a ton of replacement parts from Aliexpress. I looked up HSP Pangolin spare parts. The only 'hop up' I purchased was the HSP locked diff. The balance I ordered stock drive shafts, dog bones, c-hub ,etc... From what I have read on these forums, not much stuff breaks on the E10 unless you are going wild. I've been crawling in freezing weather and so far everything is fine. |

So far the only thing I've broke was stripping out the spur and pinion after going to a 32t and 3s. But it was making some noise befor, and I put some grease on it which may have not helped

I just received these tires. So far they seem very grippy. If I get a chance, I'll try them out this weekend. Sent from my SM-A530W using Tapatalk |

I've had my E10 for a few years now and have done a few things to it. Made it 4 wheel steer (got 3 ch remote from a redcat rockslide), beadlocks with proline tsl sx2 2.2 with weights and foams, put metal lockers in from an scx10 (btw most things axle wise are backwards compatible with scx10) , swapped in a cheap rc4wd motor from Amazon, aluminum hexs, swapped bodies with another crawler I had and lowered the weight in the shocks... I think that's about it lol. Best car I've ever owned. Any questions hit me up. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk |

I have had my everest 10 for 2 years now and have done multiple mods. Some I like and some I didn't. I have found that the cheap China aluminium parts don't last. Trying the genuine redcat aluminium parts now. Better tires and changing suspension geometry has been best. I also chose to put a better steering servo on mine when the stock one starting making noise. Any questions don't hesitate to ask.
