Serious question... Mod the Gen 7 Pro or get a Gen 10? When my sons and I got our first RC crawler, it was clear that the Gen 7 pro was going to be a lot of fun, and it has been... we have become better crawlers, I think by starting out on something so much less capable... So far i have done mods to help with steering and some bumper/body clearance mods... additionally I mounted a block of steel on top of the steering servo to allow for a little more front axle weight... all have been helpful, but I always wanted more... what i am considering... 1.) remove the roof rack and spare tire... 2.) cut away the cargo area on the body, making the body similar to a 4 door truck, or trail modded Jeep XJ, BUT keeping the cage intact... additionally doing a full XJ Jeep style COMP cut on the body 3.) removing the wheel wells and 4.) making some brackets that will allow much more aggressive shock angles 5.) going to a 10 or 15 wt shock oil 6.) lowing the battery tray 7.)lower mounting the electronics? |
Re: Serious question... Mod the Gen 7 Pro or get a Gen 10? I would get the Gen 8 and have two crawlers to play with. Long term, as a solo vehicle, the Gen 8 has a lot more aftermarket love. I got one so friends can join me when I trail with my TRX4 Bronco. There are differences between them, but that is the fun. |

He swopped the body... kinda obvious... threw on some badlands, got some shorter shocks and swopped to chinese cnc scx10 axles. This thing out crawls everyone. Nobody smiles when he rocks up at a meet with this. The only things that I know of that broke in the last 2 years are the front axle shafts. 3s hammering on the rocks. The motor bushings are worn now too. Get weight down low with properly tuned shocks and you will be happy. These things are tough and very capable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

the e10 is a fun rig if you get it i would change the chassie first thing if you dont want to do that get the skid plate that moves the lower link mounts in towards the middle of the rig and lowers the skid by about a 1/4 inch that will fix the suspention geomitry and will let this budget rig crawl with the more exspensive rigs however your gen7 is basicly the same rig with a different chassie and the upgraded axles are better to in my opinion so just buy a crawler chassie and move your parts over to it it should come with a skid too then all you need are better tires you would still have to buy tires for the e10 also so theres no way around new tires you could then sell your leftover gen7 parts to help pay for a tire lol the only real problem and a seriose one in my book if you turn your gen7 in to a compish buggie is you wont have the gen7 anymore in my opinion 2 rigs are better than 1 i say buy the e10 and have both lol |
