| Making a trailer for my gen8, couple questions
It seems that all the hitches square shafts have vertical holes for the hitch pin, but my gen8 bumpers hitch receiver is horizontal like real receivers. I want to use a pintle hitch so I'll need the hook for the truck and the ring for the trailer. Where can I buy the right parts? Also how do you guys do the trailer axles? Just buy complete non powered axles or just thread the ends of shafts and drill holes to put the hubs on? Thank you, I'll attach a picture of what I have so far. |

I'd just drill another hole in your receiver in the orientation you need. Get the best hitch for your needs and make the receiver hole the least of your worries.

Here’s my trailer. It’s still a WIP, so it’s not too pretty yet. For the hitch, I just used a turnbuckle and bolted one end on the trailer, and the other end I will use nut/bolt to attach it to the truck. For the axle, I used a threaded rod, 8 nuts, 2 machine screws, and 4 washers. The axle mounting point is off of the TRX4 rock sliders where you put the screws in to hold in onto the chassis. Sorry, it’s kind of hard to explain. Those are held on by machine screws going all the way through the wood with a nut/washer on the end. The axle then goes through the screw hole, and is held on by a nut/washer on both ends so it can’t move side to side. Then, I used 2 more locknuts to act as a “wheel stopper” the locknut keeps the wheels from sliding too far back. lastly, 2 more locknuts to hold the tires on. Just make sure your using locknuts! I haven’t had any problems with anything so far. Hope this helps one way or another! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

This is what i did for my axles and suspension. Havent built the deck yet, but its all measured out width wise. 5mm rod, 12mm to rod adapter (ebay), 3d printed 5x11mm bearing/leaf spring mount, hilift/d90 china leafsprings, highlift wheels/tires. I hate to say it, but ebay has nice pintlehook/hitch combos for cheap.

Yes, but only when I'm full speed in 2nd going over rocks or rough terrain. The mounting hole is hollowed out bigger so it has about 1/2" play up/down to control bouncing. Was thinking about getting some Slash socks, but this does for now. V1 trailer was just a small utility type trailer that weighed almost nothing and it didn't bounce much with this same exact axle mounting system. I can only imagine that with the heavy 1/2" wood box that it won't bounce as much. But ill know for sure whenever It gets its maiden voyage. | |
