Default Might be a silly question, but... Anyone put 1.55 tires on a Gen8?

Now that I am building a dedicated 2.2 rig, I really want to turn my Gen8 AXE into a 1.55 tired rig. I have no real idea why, because I have always been a " bigger is better" kinda guy when it comes R/C's. Big and slow, just like my 1:1 F350

One of my concerns is that with the portal axles, I may not be able to get it low enough to make it look right.

I was curious if anyone has run 1.55's on their Gen8 and if so, do you have any pictures of it?

I know it would look goofy with the stock body, but I am running a pick-up body on mine.

Thanks in advance.

Or, you can just tell me I am just plain'ole nutty, I'm good either way...

Seen a few pics on the Fascistbook. Doesn't look bad. Like old 15 inch wheels/rims.

Thanks man. Although I am not one of the illustrious members of that famed group...

I would consider the 1.7's too, but the tire choice is pretty limited.

I think a 1.55 rim/tire combo that is close to 4" tall would look decent. When I get home tomorrow, I will start looking to see if I would be able to get it low enough to look right.

If nothing else, I will post pics of mine

I have a set of 1.9 RC4WD Trail Busters that I got off of a member here that I can mock up. In the end, the 1.9 wheel looks too big in the middle of the 4" tire.

I just traded for a gen8...

it has never been on the rocks at all. The guy had lowered it to make it look stock by putting proline 75mm shocks on it. I didn't like it because it's so low, and you lose so much flex by shortening the shocks that much, but it did look like a stock height Scout would look.

I am selling the shocks that came off of it if you're interested.

here's a link:

Here's what it looked like with the shorter shocks.

They are a bit shorter than I was looking for, but would give me one more set to play with. Shoot me a PM with what you want for them.

*EDIT*
Kinda funny, my dad was from the opposite corner of the state as you. Northeast, up in Kingsport.

a 1.55 wheel scales out to a 12.4 inch rim if your using the gen8 body for what ever thats worth lol
i have seen 4.19 wheels on the scout the guy comped it in class 1
if i remeber right he did pretty well so a 4" tire on that platform should be fine
you might want those shorter shocks or just run full droop or go with a pen spring mod

With it being 1/10th scale, I guess I assumed it would scale out to 15.5". We'll see what it looks like and I will be using my Blue F150 body.

The tires I am looking at are 3.85", I wish I could have found what I wanted in a 4" to 4.1", but I guess we will see how it goes shortly...
I am going to grab those shocks and will try full droop first, them possibly the pen spring mod if I don't like full droop.

well when anyone talks about the gen8 i think of the scout body because there is no posable.way that anything else would ever fit lol
the wheel base on the gen8 scout is dead on for 1/8th scale the width on the other hand uh is more 7th scale i wish they got them right but it still looks good from the side lol

I agree, that body is huge.
I did not really think about the scale part of it much.

I’ll definitely have to do some lowering and tucking, should be interesting.
