| Jason "The Jackalope's" TIPS AND TRICKS New to the RS-10 forum?? Or considering an RS-10 as your next crawler purchase? Here's a good place to start! Link; http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...%2A%2A%2A.html If your the type of person who just wants a Ready-To-Run crawler, just to play with, and have no desire at all to tinker, modify, customize, tear down, and rebuild your crawler, Then thats the basics. Happy crawling Okay then. If your still reading this, then I guess it's safe to assume that YOU are a modifier. And that you are planning to make one BADASS RS-10. Now I believe that there is no WRONG WAY to approach this. No matter what some forum rats with too much money tell you. So, Here's the basics; As far as RS10 upgrades go, It won't say Redcat on the package. So, you just need to know what your looking for. RS10 specific stuff like gears, diff pins, and axle housings; Go to ZNO-RC The Clear Choice in Competitve RC Hobbies Or Crawford Performance Engineering : What's New Here? For wheels, hubs, and steering knuckles; This part of the rig is near identical to Axial AX10 parts, and there is a whole market around making these hop-up parts. Most should bolt right up. Thats probably something the guys boo-hoo-ing at the shop haven't realized yet. Most of them even have these parts on the shelf allready. The Motors are a 380 size can, or a 390 for the XT version. There isn't a big market in these size motors, so upgrades are hard to find. Holmes Hobbies / Holmes Bikes has some pricey but WELL-worth-it options. A lot of guys do the modification to fit 540 size motors, to open up more options in the crawler specific motor market. Electronics are interchangable among most crawlers. Their wiring can be as simple, or as complex (digs, lights, dual esc, BEC,) as you wish. just as long as all the peices work well with one-another. As for suspension and chassis? Your imagination is the only thing that limits you. The length and shape of each link or shock can change, depending on where you want to mount it to, on whatever chassis you decide to try out. And thats when you really fall in love with tuning your crawler. Have Fun! And don't be afraid to try something no-one else has done! Here's a few of MY favorites to get you started ; http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...ml#post3094678 http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...%2A%2A%2A.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...mented%3B.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...k-chassis.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...practices.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...ml#post3680122 http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...ng-thread.html Thanks for reading. Nice work. If I were a Mod I would highly consider hitting the sticky button!
