Default Ordered Everest 10 - First Steps for Beginner?

After spending hours looking on this site over the past week (thanks Jeepiac and others for your builds), I just ordered an Everest 10 (amain has them for $122 shipped right now).

So, for me and the many other beginners, what are the first things I need to do to it after getting it? I know many things are a matter of preference (especially mods), but I'm looking for the starter list. Here was my plan...

Straight Out of Box
-Grease axles and trans - use plain marine grease
-Adjust shocks - remove preload spacer, add tube to limit travel?
-Reposition shocks - move shock outside the chassis on top and outside the control arms at the axle
-Heavier oil in shocks - weight recommendation?
-Tires - remove foam? cut tread?
-Waterproof receiver or ESC?

Mods
-Lower CG
-Lower and install new body
-Install 35t motor
-Mirror motor and tranny
-Install lockers

Spare Parts
-Any you recommend I buy now?

Thanks guys! I've never had an RC crawler before. I was into RC as a kid (still have by gold pan RC10 and Kyosho stock car I built) and have 4-5 Stampedes and Rustlers for the kids. My son wants a crawler, so here's my first attempt...I figure the kids can play with this when we take the 1:1 trucks out.

If this is another thread I missed, please let me know.

axial lockers is a must, stock locker is plastic and strips immediatly, new tires also, i didnt have much luck modding the foams or tires, it needs a softer compound for both. the esc is waterproof, the reciever not so much, mine went for a ride down a river so i know first hand. have fun!
