hate to burst your bubble
the rs10 is a nifty crawler but it has its limitations. there are many upgrades you can make to them but it is all
a labor of love, no parts you just buy off the shelf, you have to make everything. the axles are a bit too narrow
so when you adapt 540 motors you end up with a serious lack of room problem as well as straining every piece
to the breaking point.

bane bots will fit but you do not gain anything.
cobalt400 motors will work fine but are hard to find and will also break things

the best thing is to get a pair of small brushless outriggers motors in the 850 - 950 kv range and the two
escs. hobbyking can fix you up for about 10 for each motor and 30 for each esc. you will end up
with plenty of power to break dogbones but not much low speed control.

The best 540 motor swap I can find is Bully v2 axles. Indestructible and made to run 540 motors. Watch the classifieds and fleabay, they come up every now and then for pretty good price.

yes get two of the front axles to get 4ws
just about the best moa axle out of the box available. you can do upgrades to it
but you do not need to do any

but then it wont be an rs10 haha

this is what i did to my rs10 to fit a a pair of 540 80t cans.

Wheels are stock width. All I did beside the cantilever setup is make the motor adapter plate. I can put the stock 390's back in if I wanted to as well.

very clean haulingram
did you make that adapter plate? did you have to use a long pinion?
looks like the wheels are spaced out a bit for clearance, right? about 1/2"?
any issues bending dogbones or breaking axlehousings?
using cantilever shocks certainly took care of them getting in the way.

very nicely done

be nice to see that adapter plate. do you have a spare we can look at?

i made it out of i think 3/8 thick aluminum plate and i tapped the m3 threads to hold the motor plate to the gear case and have only 1 through bolt thats counter sunk that holds the motor to the plate. it actually holds really well, havent had an issue with it yet.

so you use the two original holes to adjust the pinion gear lash.

very simple and effective

Absolutely. And I had to get 2 12t pinions to fit the bigger shaft. A normal sized 540 has a long enough shaft to make contact with the trans gear.

hello. the best motor option I feel is 540's . as long as you have metric 48 pitch pinions you will be fine. you will have to mess with your links and customize the gear box a bit, but it is worth it. I run 45t rc4wd motors, sidewinder, and a 3 cell. I have not been easy on it by anymeans and it has held together perfect. well other then some bent dogbones! lol . I had put a post up a long time ago going over generally whats involved in the install. hope this helps.
