Esc? Xl5 and vxl3

Tonight me e10 has a xl5 esc will not reset t .i have done the steps. It will not do the single red blink to double red blink sequence. My friend has a vxl3.
My question is can i use the nimh 3000mah 8.4v 7 cell. And a titan 12t 550 with the vxl3?
Also how would i set up the lead wires coming from the esc to battery
The vxl3 will br given to me if compatible with the battery and motor. Ive tried to the research but i have a hard time understanding what i am finding out about the vxl3.

I took a look on Traxxas' own website and it shows no motor limit with the vxl3 on either brushed or brushless so yes, the vxl3 will run the titan. You should look at the manual for correct connection settings for brushed motors.

Thanks i figured out that i had the esc plugged into the receiver wrong thamks to my friend with the vxl3
