Default Spectators - Need Advice

Alright we are running into several Spectator problems, we ahave tried to address it with rules and suggestions but nothing seems to work.

We are getting people following the driver and vehicle through the whole course, crowding the driver, the judges, ruining any comp pics, asking the driver about setups, and sometimes actually being in the way of the course.

We want it to be fun for all, any suggestions or are we just going to need to be asses and tell them to get off course. I raced both on and offroad and nobody ever came up and discussed anything in the drivers stand while you were racing, so this is all odd to me, I'm ready to get some ropes and rope off a spectator area......

I just ask nice to please get out of the way.
If they get in the way again, I say GET THE F OUT OF THE WAY. If I'm driving, I run them over. I'm 6 ft 1 at 275lbs and ugly, so they move the 1st time I ask most the time.

No really, you could bring it up in the drivers meeting.

set spectator limits... We have went so far as to setup cones with string and tell them that anyone that crosses it will be asked to leave.

If they are people that are not related to the comp, just ask them to step back and give room.

We always state in the driver meeting that you are to stay off the course when not driving. Kindly ask those who forgot or didn't hear to stay off the course. I've never had anyone mind moving off the course after being asked politely to do so.

Just tell them to get their ass off the courses, or if they are drivers tell them that they will be dq'd if they are on the course.

This can be addressed before the comp even starts, and be sure to tell your judges to enforce it. Ropes help too

yup Drivers meetings before starting are the best way to lay out any concerns and/or course rules to everyone.

if its outsiders that just show up then maybe lay rope around the course to give them a subtle hint, if that doesnt work then maybe they deserve a good "GTF out of the way"

Yeah, dirvers can be controlled easily enough with the drivers meeting.

The big problem is all the passer-by people who stop and watch. I believe that is what he meant by "spectators"

So is rope the only suggestion for that crowd?

i vote for rope and a big tall ugly dude in the corner with a baseball bat named bubba. And if some one is asked to move, "Hey bubba, move this guy please".

run em over! lol.. x2 Before the comp we spend a good 5-10 mins in our safety/drivers meeting, letting spectators and other drivers to please be curtious of people running the course. Works everytime.

Where are you holding comps? in the rock garden out in front of the mall??

When someone gets in my way I just yell "DRIVER ON COURSE" when someone interrupts my concentration while driving I just ignore them or kindly ask them to leave me the hell alone.

They usually get the idea.
