Forced Articulation - Legal or Not

Ok so im not sure what this is all about. Im working on a forced articulation setup on a independant suspension rig and wanted to be sure it would be legal. I did a search on forced articulation and came up with some interesting builds but nothing in the rules.

• 2.1.5 - All suspension mounting points must be fixed mounted. This includes all link mounts, and
shock mounts.

2.1.7 - Active Suspension is allowed - A suspension that is interlinked (such as the 1:1 Scorpion,
excluding the air bags used to raise and lower the vehicle) which by design moves part of the
suspension in one direction when moved from another. This does not have any driver input.

2.1.8 - Forced Articulation is allowed – Forced articulation is the use of something such as

hydraulics or electronics to literally force the suspension to move in a driver-controlled manner.



How can you do forced articulation if the suspension mounting points must be fixed? Am i missing something here?

From what i remember form a while back when Kamikaze built a forced rig.As long as you attached the shocks to a fixed position like a servo horn you were fine.The shocks attached solid(They could not just flop around)Then the servo horn was attached to the servo that was attached to the chassis.

Maybe im still missing something but why do we need a rule for this? What advantage could be served by not haveing the shocks mounted. I read Kamikaze's build thread on that rig and it looks like forced articulation to me so it would be legal but since the servo horn moves its not fixed.

Is this so you couldnt use 4 servos to raise and lower the rig or .....??

I feel so lost, LOL.

Pm Jeff (Kamikaze) I think he will be able to point you in the right direction.So you can understand why they made the rule like they did.He likes stirring things up chances are he was the one to cause the rule.
