Been seeing more and more people purposely driving backwards long distances as an advantage. For example, reversing down long, steep, stepped terrain or angle backing down part of a slope then going angle forward up effectively turning a straight sidehill section into a descend/climb V turn. I kind of consider this cheating or coping out. I guess the course makers need to tighten up the boundaries to reduce these tactics.

X2 Alot of drivers see a course and figure that they have to run it the way it's layed out, all in foward motion. If you've got to use a reverse might as well USE A REVERSE. I'm not a cheater or copping out, I'm thinking. Everyone should be. And I welcome our course designer to try to stop my backwards thinking(pun intended)

Tighter course boundaries should help slow it down if you like.... | |

Not really complaining. I guess it just seems to remove some of the cool scale realism to me driving around backwards through the course.

Like driving backward instead of forward thru an obstacle is easier. If you have good course designers they can combat it. I purposely give people subtle options like that on my courses, doesn't mean they will think of them.

I also design in long reverses or features that are easier in reverse - it makes it that much harder to do it all forward this is especially relevant in 1.9 courses since they don't have dig

so if i back down a hill and my tires are going in a forward motion while the truck is sliding its still a reverse? with 1 rev penalty?

7.1.3 - If a vehicle is climbing an obstacle and is bounced backward by the terrain but the tires are still moving forward, no reverse penalty will occur. Last edited by dpdsurf; 04-02-2009 at 09:30 PM. | |

Yep, simply smart driving. I specifically mention it when going through the rules at every drivers meeting, that you should make the most of every reverse, don't take 2 or 3 short ones if 1 long one will achieve the same goal

i dont have a dig yet so iuse rev to MY advantage yes i take the point to get a good line. i think it makes a better drive to think the course. i will get a dig in the future and hopefuly not have to rev so much . ive run a course that was desinged for a dig so yes ill take 1 long rev instead of 5 small ones and all the points that go with it
