Default Tuber Requirement?

OK, first of I am not complaining, and I have already modified my rig to fit the 2007 requirements and also realize that the rules are set. I am also for size requirements, I know that there has to be a set mesurement to keep anyone from trying to interprete the rules to fit there needs. But I am curious as to why there is a minimum length requirement for a tube chassis. To me it seems that the WB has to be a certain length to be competitave and the 4 links need to be setup a certain way to work right so if the links are just like tubing in that they are hard and take up space low to the ground then what difference does length make when you have already established height and width?? Case in point, my tube chassis was within the minimum width and height requirements but fell 1.5" short of the 12" length requirements. I changed it to fit the rules, it did nothing to change the performance, just made it look IMO stupid. I'm not whining I just wanted to know if anyone had considered this when making the rules.
Here is the peice I added, no loss in performance, but it was a loss in apperance. Once again not whinning just wondering.

Because it helps them look more like 1:1 rigs. Without a length rule, you could come up with some weird shock mount setup and just make the chassis long enough for you links.

Basically you could end the front of the chassis where the A pillar comes down.

I was wondering why tubers are required to have a roof and side panels and hood
Mine already has the hood and adding the rest is no problem for me. Just curious. Thanks.

Again because it makes them look more like real rigs, as opposed to a battle bot.

For what it's worth, I think it looks better with the rear bar.

Cool. thanks. My rig will look like a battle bot regardless of body panels.

i am building a tuber too, and have a question. The rules say that there is a minimum width of 3" does the entire side have to be 3" wide or can it taper in the bottom? Meaning if one were to look at it from the front is this okay.......

P.S. for Kamikaze, I think yours looks kick-***, and hope mine turns out looking that good.

It can be 3 inches wide at the roof, and taper to a point if you really want to build it that way.

Does it mater what the panels, roof, etc are made of? I am trying to bring my tuber into spec also and need to add panels.

Nope, make them out of paper mache or gummy bears if you so desire.

Now there is an idea. If you tend to have a tippy rig, you can put gummy bears on the side to hold it in place.

Good, because duct tape made great skins for my tuber. It oddly enough looked really neat. (temporary while I make real skins)

But this is a comp tuber, not a scale tuber. Its kind of like banning torsions for being too light, and make them not run against TVP rigs!

The "stick" rigs are required to run a body. Theres your "real" look.

The only area I don't agree with looking at tubers vs. "sticks" is the width rule. 3" wide chassis vs. 1/2" wide chassis. None the less, the rules are set, lets just run'em.
