The 2.2 width rule is pretty straight forward and is all good. My question is.....Where does everyone measure the 12.5" width? Is it at the bottom of the tire?(where the contact patch is) This would seem like the best place to measure, since tire bulge could make you wider. Or would it be at the center axis of the wheel/tire? Thanks

Measured at the widest point no matter what that is. If your wheel nuts stick out farther than your tires, you measure that. If your bulged tire is widest you measure that. Think of it as maximum width for the truck, not track width.

This is the NEW rule. Vehicle track width is a maximum of 12.5 inches, measured at the bottom of the outer most edge of the front and rear tires while the vehicle is sitting on level ground. I know it gives a MAXIMUM width. But then it tells you where to measure from. I don't know why someone would, but because of the wording... If he wanted to run his tires like this \ / instead of l l or / \ He could... Right? | ||

No. Maximum width is measured from the widest point no matter what the rule says.

T.C. & Unholy can see this: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51102 What was the verdict if it's not in that first post? "Vehicle track width is a maximum of 12.5 inches, measured at the bottom of the outer most edge of the front and rear tires while the vehicle is sitting on level ground." I'm not arguing, I'm just wondering when the wording got switched.

I think Ray is right that is the way I read the 2007 rules . but I don't understand why the rule is there. Just hold the gates to 15 " and if someone wants to run a 14 and 3/4 track width let them pay that way . just my thoughts for what good they are !!

If you wanted to run negative or possitive camber....As long as the contact patch of the tire was under 12.5".....What would it matter if the tops of the tire was to be a hair wider? It's not even touching the ground.
