Default Scale lug nuts and studs!

Did this to my new set of RPM Revolvers. I'm thinking of adding another set of 5 in between the ones that are there. I also have bolts small enough to replace all the little molded-in "lumps" on the outside rim of the wheel, paint the rim and make them look like super-scale beadlocks. I might take the nuts off and paint the studs black, too.

Wadda you think?

those are the 1-72 x 1/2. But I also have the 0-90 and the 00-90 sizes.

I used them all over a Revell Big Deuce 1/8th scale '32 Ford kit I'm working on. I'm replacing every single molded-in fastener with these. I'm up to over 600 so far!

That's just sick! Can you buy a kit or do you have to order all the sizes separate like McMaster?

You gotta order 'em all seperate. Me and a bunch of other people have e-mailed them BEGGING them for assortments but no luck.

thanks for the compliment on the 1/8 scale stuff. Hopefully someday I'll have time to finish it. If you think that motor's something, you should see it now. Now it's got a big Blower on top of it, all done in Chrome paint (like spazstix) and three carbs on top of that! And all of it's done up the same way with the hardware.

Actually, That's from a STATIC 1/8 scale '32 Ford kit by revell, and the Jag parts are from a Monogram 1/8 scale jag kit. The quickchange used to be a solid-axle centersection that I made the brackets for to make the winters. I still need to moount the brakes, etc. I DO have functional scale U-joints for it, though (but they're resin-cast, not really for our kind of stuff).

I DO have another 1/8-scale kit that DOES have a working halibrand-style rearend, as the kit is motorized and has working steering and clutch, and the motor also turns the belts and stuff on the twin Blown engines (it's a big, crazy dragster kit) but it would be pretty much useless for our use, but you COULD use it to master machined stuff off of, I suppose...

I added the perfect finishing touch to these last night.

LOCKOUTS!!!

I just made these from a bic pen tube, that I heated up and shoved over the wheel nut, let it cool, and then made a piece to go in the center using just about anything I could find that would fit one-inside the-other to plug the hole. (A chunk of the inner piece of the bic pen, some aluminum and styrene tube, and a chunk of styrene rod.)

Then I used another piece of styrene to similate the cross-bar piece on the knob.

Then I colored them with black, red and silver sharpie markers.

I know they look more like TTB ford lockouts, but they're close enough for me.

Total cost: $0. Time involved, about an hour, but I spent most of that looking for materials around my house. I think in all reality once I got to work the only thing holding me up was waiting for the glue and ink to dry.

How much it adds to the looks of the rig: Priceless.

Thanks for the link, I ordered a bunch for future lockout hub designs. Tiny little buggers, the nuts are about 2mm across, stub is under 1mm.
