Making scale shop accessories After a disappointing search for 1/10th scale 'shop type' equipment and tools, I decided to try make some things myself. I am in the process of putting together a little workshop as a backdrop for pics of my rc builds, and need some props to make it a little more realistic looking. Here are some finnished and in progress goodies. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...f/DSCN6395.jpg Must have a little rc rig. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...f/DSCN6398.jpg Steering wheel he chose.http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...f/DSCN6400.jpg A bench grinder taking shapehttp://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...f/DSCN6405.jpg The thing on the right side is a bench vise in the making. I'm not sure if they pass the "scale" test, but it's the best I can do with what I've got. Or, on second thoughts, maybe I should just forget the whole idea? |
THAT IS AWESOME WORK, very impressive, now I want to make some. For the r/c try Tamiya they sell tiny can models of actual r/c's. The cans look like tobacco chew cans these are pretty close to 1/10 scale or make them out of styrene. Which by the looks of it you would have no problems, again AWESOME WORK."thumbsup" |
impressive |
for scale workshop accessories, look for snap on. I believe they actually make minitures for this purpose. I have seen them in auto shops but have not checked prices. |

Thanks RobCam, gives me encouragement to make more. I appreciate your compliment j33p3r, Snap on do have some amazing mini tools, floor jacks ect. all around 1/8th scale size, and Northern Tools also have very detailed items in various sets of 1/18th scale shop equip. I might get some of those, 1.1 tools come in lots of sizes so maybe they will fit in nicely. Any skills or ability would be worthless without having all of you guys sharing idea's and how to's, a BIG THANKS to everyone here. Here is a link to the Northern tool items :http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...+763941+769650 |

Thanks guys, here is the finnished vise, and I have to complete the grinder and a pedestal for each of them. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...p/DSCN6447.jpg http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...p/DSCN6452.jpg http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...p/DSCN6453.jpg I still have a lot of little details to fix, but the shop is slowly getting little details added. here is one of the most recent pics http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...p/DSCN6601.jpg |
