heres what i came up with this mornin @ 5am(damn squirrels in my attic). !!!alum hollow tube 1/16th small dia. heat shrink tubing traxxas shift springs #tra3184 traxxas screws #tra3290 only need 1. ca glue ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() cut the tube to the length you want. slide the spring over the tube,be sure to leave enough of the spring so that the screw will have enough thread to hold it on. ca glue the spring on the tube, several times. let set. ![]() put the heat shrink on and heat it up! ![]() now find your spot to install your new whip antenna! drill your hole for your screw. screw the spring onto the thread of the screw. "the more distance between the tube and the screw the more springy it will be" ![]() ![]() ![]() i painted it flat black to hide the silver. enjoy!

Pretty cool idea. I would use a actual plastic antenna tube, so you get some flex out of it as well, but I like the way you pit it together. Nice work.

How about stretching the spring over the length of the tube then putting the heat shrink over both the spring and tube. It would look more like a real whip with the wire coiled around it. http://www.wearecb.com/store/firesti...oot-p-203.html

Great idea.! I would try and use a stronger spring or lighter weight material for the antenna, so it springs stiffer like real ones. I was also thinking you could use guitar strings but that would not look like a firestick type like you made. either way, great idea and thanks for sharing.
