Default homemade pico switch

I don't know if anybody else does this but relized I could make a pico/relay switch out of the circuit board from a servo. I just made an led bar so this helps with testing it. I just took out the motor and pot and wired the pot leads with 2 2.2k resistors and shortened the board and soldered my led leads to where the motor leads were. What are your thoughts?

Heres a crap video if u wanted proof

That is pretty cool, guess i'll have to stop pitching the junk servos now. Better then paying $20.00 a pop for a pre-fabb'ed one..

Been there, they also make good replacements for 3R winch boards

I'm using this servo mod for a year and a half to switch leds, winches and more on the cars. It works perfect and, that way, we recicle old/broken servos

It also can be used as ESC for "small scales" like X-mods.

I use the servo case to give extra protection and it can be mounted like a servo just about anywhere.I have probaly made 40 or 50 of these so for and everyone loves them. But it is a good way as mention to reuse old servos.

I'm runnin 6v. Thats usually max volts on a servo. It might be possible you could run more but idk. I dont kno what craps out first from over powering. All my servos die from water lol.

No doubt, I've got 8 or 9 crapped servos laying around. I'm glad I did'nt pitch them now. Cool idea...

It's a radio activated switch. It can be used for many things but with the LEDs, you can turn the lights on with the same radio that you drive with.

ok i made one of these but let the pot on, is this why my whinch slowly lets out line or sucks it in as a drive?

if so could you add a bit more detail as to where you soldered the 2 2.2k resistors
and that is the only changes you made?

The resistors replace the POT

My apologies for reviving an old thread.
What's the use of the resistors?

If the servo doesn't reach the end because there's no motor wouldn't it just keep supplying power to the motor voltage points?

Bumping this old thread because I know tons of people have to have old servos that would be perfect for this. I know I do.

So with this hack, do I need a LED control board at all, or no since the servo has a pot/resistors already?
