Default Homemade bungees and recovery straps

i decided to try my hand at building these instead of buying them just cause i like to make things myself, much more rewarding that way

This is the first one i made and thats why the hooks are not identical haha but it is made like a real bungee with the knot at each end holding it in the hook/spring dealo

This is a pic of the bungee length not stretched

And heres the bungee streched out at almost double the length

I bought some colored bungee to try after i get my technique down

I also built a tree saver/recovery strap even tho its a lil short for recoveries i plan to build some longer ones.... They even have a lil spring to them which is kinda cool

I used super glue and shrink tape. Sewing aint a bad idea, I'll have to mention something to my wife about that...

I just bend it around the end of a old brazing rod and no the conical actually comes from when u start to crimp the wire around the bungee

Well i decided at some point ill need a cargo net since im building a flat bed truck and the other guys i scale with have roof racks...

This one is a 16 hook net. I made the hooks a lil larger to go around the 3/16 tube..

Tried it out over my spare and used a receiver pack as my cooler since i dont one yet

Thanks

I made a second net for a fellow scaler and went with a lil different design that lets me eliminate 4 hooks so its down to 12...

stuck it to a MT foam

Really cool! I thought about making my own bungies also, wondering if tool dip would work on the hook coils. Any body tried this?

I think it could work but if its to thick i think you would end up taking away from the detail coil and it woudl look like a blob haha

I used coated paper clips, (the colored ones) for the hooks.

I use a small punch to wrap the paperclips for bungees, it tapers down and is a little easier on the fingers too. Also on the tow straps you can just staple them and hide it with the shrink tubing, very easy and plenty strong
