| 3 Racing winch with DX3s
Has anyone had any luck using the Spektrum DX3s controller to use the winch remotely?

Check out the electronics section of the forum. A couple of threads there, including this one: 3Racing Winch Problem Not looking good. |

I got it hooked up, but it reels in and out, and never stops, it's just a two postion AUX switch, so I don't think it will work,

Thanks for the link. Might have to use the switch for it on board.

I have to just double click the button on the Rx so the servo returns to neutral. Video here

Yeah, I seen your thread on this, its pretty bad ass! I think I might just use the off-board controler for now, till it becomes a burden.

Cheers. Might give that one a go. Was also thinking of mixing it in with the steering so as I turn one way the winch pulls in and turn the other way to let it out. Do you think this would work?

It would work, but if you're winching yourself out of a spot you might not want to be turning while you're getting pulled up. What if you need to go left but reeling your winch in requires you turn the wheel right? Or if you need to wiggle the steering to free yourself now your winch is going in and out too.

Now im not good in electronics I dont even know what are the specs of the diode I used but basically it has a max reverse voltage of 12V which is more than enough since I only run on 6V (BEC supplied) power. Its as big as 1/4 watt resistor. However I notice a slight power loss maybe because my diode measured some ON resistance (if that is what it is called) that probably drop the actual winch motor input voltage or maybe just because of the extra load on my light system. If you or anyone can recommend a better diode specs, Im be very much thank full. BTW although I have not encountered any problem so far do this at your own risk. Here's a picture and a short vid please excuse the poor phone cam quality vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q49pN_TUFWU
