Bitter End's 1/6 Scale Garage

The workbench room has been a little tight lately with several irons in the fire. I really need to dedicate some room for just the RC's.

After breaking out the slide rule and taking a few measurements I decided on a full 4X8 sheet of plywood to get started.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z...213_180640.jpg

I opted for a sheet of 1/2" sanded on one side and bolstered it with a full 2X4 frame on the underside.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D...213_180656.jpg

I used screws throughout (I was really dying to use my pocket jig for the first time!).

I used lathe strips for the wall frame work, they worked out to close to a 2X10 scale. My buddy said, "wall studs, really?" Yea.... something has to hold the wall board up!

Easy rider in the photo for a scale reference. That's a 12" Clint Eastwood on a 1/6 chopper.

This side wall will have a roll up door and a man door.

Wow, that's enormous. It's going to be a fun scale to work with though. Nice! "thumbsup"

No, not done yet  As mentioned I have several projects that I'm messing with, Putting the final bow tie on the orange crush

Tying up the loose ends on #2

Trying to get outside the box on an independent suspension for one of my trailers, and moding three more drivers with an articulating head.

With the framing in place I thought it needed a window across the back wall.

A stairway leading up to a mezzanine. You can also see where I have cross drilled holes on all of the wall studs, that should help a bunch when it comes time to run the wiring.

That is a well placed garage door alright! Very cool builds, garage is like a "mini man cave"!

I found some .060 plastic wall board at Home Depot. I think it will work out perfect for my project.

Hummm......I can't seem to find the building permit posted within sight of your construction site. And of course you are utilizing the services of union tradesmen in the construction of this "scale" garage. I can see the rat wall, but it doesn't seem to be made of treated lumber. Very cool so far! Can't believe there is no basement!

I think you missed it... ;-) :lmao:

Having 3 1/2" under the floor, don't think I didn't think about a pit... that would have just been over the top... I can see Bruce now, trouble light in hand coming up the steps.

I do like the way it's turning out, I hope its ready to move into this weekend.

Ahhh, now I see it. This thing is awesome, think I just burned mine so I can claim the insurance money and rebuild!

Time to trim it out and add a door and window.

So....the small window looks very much like a drive up "grab your coffee and McMuffin" kind of feature. Very cool, off road repairs and carry out? NICE!

I like the way you think! In the end it won't be a pass through window, but I will keep that thought on my growing list of to do's. 8)

Re: Bitter End's 1/6 Scale Garage

I know it looks massive and I will concede it's big, but once it starts to fill up with trash I'm sure I run out of room and the extra high walls will help with photographing the rigs.

Can't wait to see the details - something this big is going to keep your "to-do" list pretty full!

Re: Bitter End's 1/6 Scale Garage

Waiting for the glue to dry on some trim pieces I had an epiphany... since I needed a shop clock It just made sense I should build one out of one of my Willy's stock tire and wheels. Installed the battery and off it went!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4...111_221728.jpg

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p...111_221929.jpg

...and while the glue was drying on that I wrapped up a new head articulating co-pilot, no clothes yet - some on the way - man were they expensive. It was a bit tricky to fit a servo inside the female frame but mission accomplished.

**Pro tip! 1/6 females are as expensive as 1/1** just sayin.

And mod finished on the next driver of my 41 military

Very nice, I like the layout of the garage.... It's almost identical to what I have planned only opposite ends for the doors and 2nd level.. Anyway keep the updates coming as I'm sure I'll be watching this one.
