Well this all started with some aluminum channel i got out the trash from work. I didnt know what i wanted it for at the time but it was 1" and i knew i could find a use for it one day. Turns out today was the day. Was looking around the forum at some awesome trailers people have built over the years and thought this would be perfect. I dug into my metal box and found some thin 1/2" aluminum channel and solid stock. Very simple and fairly light so far. I plan to recess wood decking and paint all the metal. Now i have to decide on the leaf setup and axles. Good and light Aluminum can be soo easy to work with sometimes ... .... 10.5" x 27" Last edited by THX_138; 06-30-2015 at 09:00 AM. |

Waiting on some hightlift tires i got for it. Once they arrive i can cut and build the axles. Got the axle swivel mounts made and finnished the frame with some aditional aluminum i picked up from lowes. Also got a sheet to 1/4 birch plywood from the lhs to make the decking. Going to draw the board lines out groove them with a pizza cutter and knife so they look like planks then stain it all. That way i can mount it as one big peice instead of a bunch of planks. Still have to work on the screw jack and hitching point along with built a reciever for the truck. Came out way better than i imagined. Funny how a couple peices of free metal start a side project that turns into a $75 trailer

Little more progress. Cant wait till the the tires arrive so that i can cut the axles to length and start making fenders. Probably going to build a toolbox to mount on the front of the trailer as well. Need to go back for more plywood :( .... ..... ...... I ordered beadlocks for the blazer so the trailers gonna get the ascender take offs Last edited by THX_138; 07-01-2015 at 10:33 PM. |

Thanks bud Went ahead and brazed up the axles. 1/4 brakeline with 10-24 threaded rod free spinning inside. Found some threaded t-nut inserts i used as hubs and just used nylock nuts to secure the wheels against them. May have to cut them down once i get my tires to get them as close to the trailersides as possible. Then i can fab up fenders. Last edited by THX_138; 07-01-2015 at 10:39 PM. |

After unsuccessfully atempeting to build fenders out of 16gauge metal i opted for a simpler idea. Going to weld them up this weekend and then its time for paint. Welded up the fenders. Super sturdy. Very happy with the total package. Rain cut my painting short but it will get knocked out tomorrow. Gonna get some reflective tape and detail it a little. Got some tail lights and a toolbox planned Grooved and stained the wood. You can still see the grain of the board but im happy with it. Fits like a glove ... .... .....
