Re: Sloski's attempt at Styrene NICE "thumbsup" what ever you figure out for hinges make / get / rob get extra for the blast cab. |
You are turning out some of the very best stuff I've come across. Learned a lot just from studying your builds. Thanks for posting your work, Mr Roksloski. Partly inspired by you, I recently started messing around with Styrene and bumped into these the other day. With the off chance you're not privy to them, DIY hinges. <a href="http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/thekraigen/media/20160726_084236_zpsg9vtr1kh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah16/thekraigen/20160726_084236_zpsg9vtr1kh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20160726_084236_zpsg9vtr1kh.jpg"/></a> |

Thanx... how would one use those DIY hinges??? |
I picked them up here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iMyDD1nZQc He does a great job explaining how to make and how one could go about using them. My Example: With some playing around I modified one of the designs to fit my personal needs. I needed something to work with a boxed in door for a cubby. It allowed not only swing but lift as well to clear the flooring. <a href="http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/thekraigen/media/20160728_215252_zps0rqxc1bo.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah16/thekraigen/20160728_215252_zps0rqxc1bo.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20160728_215252_zps0rqxc1bo.jpg"/></a> The "U" shaped design can also work just like a car door hinge. Giving the door a box to open into or swinging out to clear the side panel, depending how you set it up. <a href="http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/thekraigen/media/20160730_101359_zpsty0xtywp.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah16/thekraigen/20160730_101359_zpsty0xtywp.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20160730_101359_zpsty0xtywp.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1376.photobucket.com/user/thekraigen/media/20160730_101612_zps0b6vtwtw.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah16/thekraigen/20160730_101612_zps0b6vtwtw.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20160730_101612_zps0b6vtwtw.jpg"/></a> Hope that helped a bit and wan't too much. Also, I was wondering how you go about gluing two painted pieces together? Everything I have used seems to wanna strip the paint off in the process. |
Re: Sloski's attempt at Styrene Hey thank you for that......"thumbsup""thumbsup" 99% of my stuff is painted after it is built... for the other 1% i will scrape the paint off..... like the tool box drawer's, i scrape the paint out of the center where it is going to go.... |
You're verdy welcome! I had thought that was the proper way to go about painting but the toolbox did throw me for a loop. Thanks a bunch for clarifying that for me :) |
Re: Sloski's attempt at Styrene LOL the 1st tool box i did, i painted it all at once then when dried i painted the silver drawer part....... 2nd one i painted the drawers separately, made painting the silver a lot easier.... thanx again.... off to the store to get supplys to make hinges...."thumbsup""thumbsup" |
Re: Sloski's attempt at Styrene Ok so here we go....... i made some mock up hinges so i could see how they work and if they will work for my needs........ you throw a cabinet face frame in the mix and, man i was scratching my head........ i Think i got it figured out............. to make it easy on myself, i used the paperclip loops instead of bending my own.. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps18fbiqgn.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psvka319jg.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pstfsygsa1.jpg it works... thats all i can say.... next time i need to make them longer........ and a handle......... thanx for lookin............ |
Re: Sloski's attempt at Styrene Done with the cabinets........ all 4 doors are hinged.........what a PITA....... http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psga8hu8nd.jpg On to the next projects........"thumbsup" thanx for lookin.... |
