Really nice chainsaws, Cycleguy. Bet they look right on all painted up. Haven't messed with Styrene much. Got a couple ideas that need to come out soon though.
Haha, thanks for the kind words. My hinges arrived so I celebrated by making a bigger 1/10 scale plywood crate for my Deadbolt. These dollhouse hinges can be found for $1.50 for a pack of 10-20 and they are smaller then Rc4wd hinges.

Water Skis are really easy to make. All they require are a sheet of thick styrene, some scrap carbon fiber/vinyl wrap, heat shrink to make the rubber boots and some pinstriping/stickers to decorate them.I used to have pictures in my phone for a "how to" but I had to delete them all to make space.

Thank you as well Cycleguy. She sure is purdy. Might I ask where you found the small hinges?
Smashing job on the skies Too bad about the files. If you happen to make another set though...

Just for a heads up, a little over twice the price you can pick up something like this. Never used one before though. May pick one up myself.

Thank you much for the very kind words.

I debated the glue method when it came to the straps. In the end I doubted its holding ability. Sewn by hand with the right thread and ten minutes you can almost equal the lace strength.
If you do let me know how it works, I looked for wheeled stamps but I couldn't find any. It's actually fairly forgiving, I made a few crooked stamps and I was able to sand the ink off and reapply, I'm up to 14 crates for the Beast now but that's barely half a load for a single tank.

I found some styrene I beams this week, they've been really handy after I cut the top off to make a styrene T.Its a really easy way to make raised vents for heaters, air cooled motors, chainsaw chains, etc.

After seeing the sweet job 801Ryan did on the rack of his Defender, it sparked a memory of something I had come across awhile ago and was really diggin' the look of. (Original build thread Survival Defender - End of the World Build - Scale 4x4 R/C Forums) Awesome build oozing with character.

Been using these sticks I picked up at Walmart in the craft area for a few different projects lately. They are cheap and you need to be kinda choosy when going through a package. Prolly stained up a hundred or so.

While waiting for them to dry I started to play around.

Looks ok and pretty sturdy. So I laid down some of the stained ones to get a proper count and a feel for how it would sit.

Just so happens to fit perfectly anywhere you put it on the D90 Adventure Rack. Really like how it turned out. With higher grade wood and a clear finish, it'll become a permanent fixture on my rig. Ended up sliding it all the way forward.

Tied it down with the same twine.

Default Tie Down Straps

I've been searching for materials to make Tie down straps for a bit now. While treasure hunting in Joann's Fabric, I came across exactly what I had been looking for. This design has been with me for awhile now but I don't like the look of round jumpers being used. So it was put off till these popped up.

The little metal bits are square jumpers for making jewlery. Until now I've only seen round ones. All of which are split on one side. These square guys are solid all the way around and have a nice shiny coat. You get about 20-25 jumpers for a couple bucks. The second item is a simple ribbon. Joann's has a whole isle of ribbon in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Interestingly, they were sold out of the yellow I originaly wanted. So I grabbed black and red for now. It comes in 6yd rolls for around 5-6 dollars.

All I did was feed the ribbon through 2 jumpers and glued (Gorilla Super Glue) the smallest loop around them that I could. You want the Loop to be rather snug without any play.

I personally like the silver buckles on black straps. Going to make up a few red straps with black buckles though. More in line with my Defender.

They function just like some 1:1 straps and hold well. The more something pulls the loop, the more friction builds between the clips. I can lift my 10+ lbs. D90 off the ground by 1 strap. Pretty sure the glue will give out before the ribbon breaks.

Thanks Antfarm! Hope you are able to find everything and it works out for ya. I originaly tried fabbing my own clips from sheet metal and then styrene, but failed miserably.

Nothing but Love for that sorta thing here, River. Very, Very nice work getting all that information in one spot. Thanks for doing that Has been a growing thought of mine to start something along those lines here, on RCC. Still very new though, with much to learn first. Maybe in time...

Thank you 2Kind. I followed your lead and picked up 7mm square jump rings and ribbon from Joanne's. Looks like the only square rings they currently have are split; however, I don't feel that will be an issue if the split side is oriented perpendicular to the direction of pull.

I decided to sew the ends around the rings instead of using glue. I also slid a small oval jump ring on the strap to hold the excess.

Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
