Default mocrawlers soft top

after seeing the orcrc write-up i thought i'd give the rag top a try.i pretty much copied the way shown in the orcrc thread. i may try some different stuff on the next one. i used a miller 210 mig welder with .023 wire. i need to buy a tig welder . the welds are much cleaner with one. i just need to practice more with the 210 i guess .the wife says shes gonna show me how to sew we'll see how that goes. LOL. Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size. let me know what ya think.

i probably will !! its kinda fun to build em. i think the frame is the easy part. my wife found some thin plastic at walmart today. its gonna work great. its that thin plastic like the old ladies use to cover their furniture with its .010 thick she bought a yard of it.so i should have enough to make 100 tops, and yes dirk that body is just one i had lying around. i have a brand new one in the shop waiting to be defiled.i'm gonna use it on my K2-3L chassis. we got one window sewn in today, damn it looks great! but i did'nt sew it. i'll post pics when the windows are sewn up. i believe i'm becoming addicted

Wow that is an awesome job. You wouldn't hardly be able to tell the difference between the write up and the one you did.

I really wish someone would do an interior on a K2 chassis, I would love to but I am just drawing a blank on what to start from.

Anyways, the top will look great I am sure.

Save me some trouble and send me that frame work!

Post more pics as you progress on it.

I can't decide whether to make a top or do a rollcage...OR both!

here are some progress pics. we got the windows sewn in ,and all i have left to do weld on mounting tabs . then i'll paint it and put the fabric on and sew the corners. to me, the frame was alot easier to make than the fabric top,but my wifes done all of the sewing work. more pics to come!!! i'll tell her you said so. she is working on another top with only a rear window.kinda like a can-back. shes going to sew the rear corners from the inside so there won't be thread showing. if it turns out good we're gonna do all of them that way. i'll post pics when she gets that one done too.
