Default Tow Straps

My neighbor and i have crawlers and sometimes we get stuck. I would like to make some tow straps so we can pull each other out but im not sure how to make them. I have searched by the way. Maybe i just didn't look hard enough. But i haven't seen any way to make some. I have heard about using shoe laces or something like that but i would really like some more info. If anyone has any pics or info on how to make some then that would be great. Thanks.

Do ya know how to braid? You could just use 3 pieces of whatever size thread/yarn/rope/twine that would look scale and braid them together to make your own braided rope style tow line.

Nope, i dont know how. I was just thinking of going to a hardware store or just a place that could have some rope and attach a hook to the end somehow. Or just make a loop in the rope. And in case someone thinks these are for looks, im actually planning on using them.

Flat shoe laces will work, and look somewhat scale if they are yellow. It's what I used for my limiting straps on the scaler.

Thanks for all the input. I'm thinking shoe laces right now. Any ideas on what to use as the connecting part on the ends? I was hoping i could easily put a little hook on or something.

Like Bender said, try FLAT shoe laces in yellow. As for the ends, maybe have your gf sew the end in a loop to resemble a real strap.

I would rather have a little hook or something so i can attach it to a bar or something. I just looked at my truck and don't see any good places for a loop to go.

I tied a knot on the ends so they are useable also. Used the Heat shirk to cover up the knots.

The loop on the end of the strap is true to form. Then you wrap the strap around whatever your pulling on and use a clevis to attach the strap to itself. Hooks are for fish and dangerous too!

I wasn't thinking of a fish hook, but i don't know how i could get any hook onto a rooe. I'll just tie a knot in the end with a loop. Thanks for all the help.

Have any of yall tried using spiderwire fishing line? It will give you the look of plasma rope for a truck and it is rated at 40lb test. You could braid a few pieces together and have a sick tow strap.

I am just going to try shoe laces for now. How long do you think they should be? Maybe like a foot and a half?

Im am getting some of the narrower shoe laces and use those. I don't really care if it is scale, but just not a wierd color. I hope those will work. Thanks for all the help.

I got some black skinny ones. How long do you think they need to be? I was thinking aout 1 1/2 times as long as the car.

I don't know how to tie the loop together. Should i like sew it or just make a knot?

I made a bar out of some of the spare parts i had leftover from the tlt kit. I was hoping i could get a hook to attach to it. Here is what it looks like.

Those hooks will probally be fine for this purpose but if you shouldn't use them on 1:1 because if the strap breaks it will send a metal hook flying into what ever is in its way, ie. tailgate, backwindow, person
