Default Light Weight Spare Tyre

Since I've become more friendly with the sewing machine I decided to make a couple of these fake spare tyres for our trucks. Instead of running with a real tyre with the weight of 200 plus grams mounted high we found these to be great to lower the center of gravity since they only wheigh 25 grams each.

They are made of a sewn outer bag in which I put some foam inserts.

I'm still not that comfortable doing needlework but from a distance it looks quite good

Thank you very much!

Yes, the main reason was to reduce weight and still have that scale look. I could have used lighter fabric and foam but at 25 grams I feel it's ok.

Great job on the design!

It turned out great! Great idea to keep the weight down!

Thanks!

At least the weight up top is reduced a lot with it.

Thanks!

This is a one size only and not intended to cover a "real" wheel so there is no need for different sizes. My first thought was to do such a cover but as you say there are so many tyre-sizes available so I can understand Prolines decision to stop making them.

We stay away from water as much as possible when we are out crawling but using closed cell foam instead of what we use now might be a good idea.

Thanks for the comment
