| Scale Garages and Accessories
Now that the Element RC boxes have been around for a year I’m seeing a lot of others who like myself now have a scale garage where they wouldn’t have before. That, combined with the growth of 3D printing has led to some pretty cool scale garage pics and accessories. Feel free to post your garages and shots of your accessories here. As mentioned above my garage is just an element Sendero box with some items I’ve gathered over the last year. I’ve since picked up a second box to expand the garage here soon when I figure out the best space for it here. One of my favorite accessories by far is the Classic Coca Cola machine designed, printed, and sold by one of our own members here (Jsterrett). It’s pretty easy to find little coke bottles to go along with it as well. Since Jeff currently has a vendor star I wanted to take a moment and give him a shout out. After I get the garage expanded I’ll be adding storage shelves, a snap on toolbox, and some other odds and ends. Post em up if you got em |

Great idea TB! This will be a great place to show off our garages and accessories! I really like the Coke machine that JSterrett has designed! That would be a great addition to any garage or mechanics bay! I may have to see about adding one to my scale garage. So, I have been wanting to build a scale garage for years, but was never sure what type or style I really wanted to build. Then along came Element RC and came out with the Enduro Sendero rig with a bonus scale gargage inside the box. At that time I think I was more excited about getting the box than I was about getting another scale rig! I already had too many and nowhere to put them. But in the end I'm glad I bought the Enduro because it has become one of my favorites drive. Anyways, with the release of the Enduro and the scale garage, this was the way to get a scale garage without having to design one. So here is my scale garage as it sits now. Most of the scale items I found on Thingivers and printed out on my 3D printer. The wooden bench and shelf I built out of Balsa wood that I picked up at my local Hobby Lobby. I also moved the man door to the right side of the overhead door. I thought it looked better on that side with my workbench and shelf. And I made copies of the block walls on my computer printer and added another row of blocks to make the garage taller. This helped in taking pictures. It was hard to take a picture and keep the garage walls in frame. These next pics is the scale garage that comes with the Element Trailwalker. I ended up putting it together long ways instead of the square shape that it is supposed to be in. I plan on eventually getting this garage setup with benches, shelves and other scale details, but for now this garage is being used to park some of my rigs. I would like in the future to design/build a "real" scale garage out of wood and add other materials so that it had framed walls and windows and possibly a loft of some kind. I would also like to make some sort of concrete looking floor too. Until that happens I'll just being working in my Element garages! |

Thanks for the shout out, Topher. Glad you like the Coke machine so much. I've had a few people comment they thought it was too short, but it's modeled off of a CS-72 which is only 56-3/4" tall. I have grand plans for my scale garage, but trouble focusing on one project at a time. So here's my garage as it sits now, need to print some more cinderblock wall facade pieces to fill in the gaps, but it's getting closer. Here's a couple of pics to give an idea of the scale, that's a TRX-4 sitting in there. Pic of the garage door design, sides/rails are made from 22ga galvanized and the door is 3D printed. Right now the door is static, but I have an idea for a functional roll-up. Here's a pic showing the floor in a little more detail with my Marlin sitting on it. Close up pic of the Coke machine showing the details. Pics of the Snap-On box I designed. Going to have to paint it because I ran out of red filament about 90% of the way through the print. Takes almost a full 1kg roll to print with the drawers, and a couple of days of machine time. I may do another version with non-functional drawers just to knock the print time down to something reasonable. Also have idea for actual functional casters... And finally a vintage gas pump I'm designing. Almost done, just needs a bit more work. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk Last edited by JSterrett; 08-13-2020 at 06:53 PM. |

Progress... If I can keep the printer running full time (without getting distracted), I should have all the wall pieces done in another day or so. Then mount the garage door and it'll be time to paint... Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

Nice progress! That gets me thinking, you could almost use one of those as like a stamp, maybe just printed inverted. I’m not sure what type of material you could use to stamp but I’m thinking there’s gotta be some type of clay/putty that could end up looking like cement when dried? Can’t wait to see the door done. |

Love the door and that floor looks really good too. What did you use for the floor? Does a great job at replicating the garage cement look.

Spackle and then some grey spray paint. It's not very durable though, so it will probably get another coat of whatever I end up using on the walls... Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk | |

More progress. Almost there, just need to paint the floor again and it should be done. Maybe a few minor touch-ups. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

I think I am going to call this done (for now). Overall pretty happy with the outcome. Would really like to hear some people's thoughts and/or suggestions.... I think I'm going to make a slightly bigger door. Also had some gaps in the facade pieces that weren't really visible until paint. Unfortunately it's too late to fix the gaps now. Now I need to fill it up with scale stuff, lol. VS4-10 Pro w/ JLU body to show scale... Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |
