Default Jebster's gooseneck car hauler

Didn't have any rig projects going on so I decided to try something different. I have a number of on road cars that don't get a lot of run time so I thought why not use them as scale accessories.

I decided on a 3 car configuration: 1 under and two on upper decks. The plan is the rear upper deck will raise to allow the lower car to unload. Then both upper decks will lower to allow a nice shallow unload angle. All of this will be handle view actuators on the sides. I plan to have the loading ramps also moved up and down by an actuator.

The bulk of the structure will be made of aluminum to keep it light. The decking is a thin steel grating. The frame connecting the upper and lower decks is steel I brazed together to give is strength. I plan on using some strategically placed links to add tension to the overall structure for rigidity.

As you will see in my earlier pics I haven't decided on a double of triple axle setup.

The truck in the pics isn't what I will be using. The nice thing about this project as it will give me an excuse to build a hauler. I'm thinking of dually setup in the rear but still need to do more research on that.

Spent more time on the trailer today. Got my structural support rods installed. The whole frame is pretty rigid now. Also added the skids on the rear that allow the upper deck to slide as it moves up and down.

Thanks. This is what happens when I don't have other projects!

I have been making progress and will post more pics soon. Even doing my first custom designed 3d printed parts on this project.

That sir, is awesome! Love how the upper deck moves for unloading, very creative.

How's that Ofna race truck? I've been eyeing one - looks like a cool platform.

The semi is the hobao epx. It is a sweet setup that is fun to drive. Very quick and easy to control.

Still plugging away at this. Got the lifting mechanics for the upper deck figured out. I'm using internally sprung shocks to add tension to hold the front upper deck in place until the actuator pulls it down.

Also figured out the axle setup. Each axle pivots in a central shaft. There will be a shock between each axle to provide ride height adjustments and some dampening.

Also made some 3d printed hubs to carry stub axles.

Haven't posted for awhile. Been making progress. Got most of it painted and have the upper deck lift and ramp mechanics working. Next part of the project will be building a tow rig.

Here are some pics and a video of it in action.

Thanks. The mechanics have worked out pretty well. There is one more motion I have to add, which is raising and lowering the gooseneck to tilt the trailer.

For a tow vehicle I want it to be a dually setup with a flatbed. I mocked up something for size reference.

Spent time working on the tow rig. I wanted dually setup but didn't want to buy new wheels so I decided to 3d print some adaptors. The two pieces lock together with the long screws which also lodge into the inner wheel so both are locked together.

Now I need to work on the trucks rear deck and mount for gooseneck engagement.

Came up with a simple way to hold the decking in place.

Have the trailer pretty much done besides the gooseneck setup. Will work on that once I get the tow rig figured out.

Here is a video showing all the motions. https://youtu.be/6N5ISIPhphw

I also came up with some chucks for holding cars on the bed.
