| 1930's Marmon-Herrington Ford conversion?
I'd like to build a Parma 34' Ford 4x4 class 1 truck. Since Marmon-Herrington performed 4x4 conversion of the 30's Ford trucks... Can a 30's 4x4 Ford (34 Parma body) be a legal Class 1 truck? I really like the old Fords, I learned to drive in my grandpa's 36' Ford hotrod and would really like to build a Class 1... but 4 wheel drive. EDIT: ok, after reading the rules again... I guess it does not need to be factory spec... I thought I read that somewhere before. So I can build my C1 30's 4x4 Dually! I did find that Ford sold the trucks with no bed as an option... it's factory spec. I know, that is against the rules Last edited by johnnyh66; 10-31-2011 at 10:46 AM. |

Just build it with a flatbed. That is my favorite body, and would live to see a class 1 truck built out of it.

Awesome! I'd also love to see a Class 1 early Ford pickup. But I'm a little partial to Model A's so that shouldn't be a surprise. Do eet!!! |

Marmon-Herrington is awesome! They still have an office in Louisville Ky that has one of the coolest lobbies I've ever seen. Good luck with your build!

After getting dimensions from War Pig, I've decided to build a Class 2 34' Ford right now and then will build the Class 1... after Hera. We currently don't have enough C1's in our club to compete with but a few guys have Class 2's. We started with all Class 3's. I'm working with a local club member on the tube work. I'm sure he'll do most of the work but I'm looking forward to learning the ropes! I really like the idea of running the same body in multiple stages/classes Last edited by johnnyh66; 07-05-2012 at 01:39 PM. |

That is awesome. One of the locals I race with has that body stuck on an rs10. I think I need to convince him he's doing it wrong. |

I like the idea, but for Class 2, you'll need some really narrow axles, won't you?

Thanks Duuuuuuuude and Old Man! Tommy, I'm going to have to push the sides out a little at the base. I'm not crazy about that door rule, would rather have a Max Width rule... Last edited by johnnyh66; 01-17-2012 at 01:02 AM. |

I just got a 1:1 34 Ford. Going to put it on a Jeep roller or maybe a Toyota not sure yet on that but I do no that it will have Chevy power. Can't wait to see your truck. |
