We have been having a discussion about what is a tuber. Some feel that a tuber needs to be made from only tube. I see nothing in the rule that says this. I am reading that a tuber has to be built with complete body structure where the front, cab, and rear sections are comprised entirely of structural tubework. Using a Ladder frame as the base will still count as a tuber. Please let me know.

A tuber is made out of tube. A ladder frame is not tube.

Yes, but the rules say:

It says nothing about the base chassis being tube, just a body made of structural tubework.

Then it should be revised to say "complete body and chassis structure".

I know what a tuber is just as well as you do, but that rule is worded a little fuzzy to those who might not know.

Not what it says.

So for example if someone uses just where the skid plate a C channel. Then build the rest with Tube that would still not be Tuber?

If it's completely made of tube then its a tuber. If it has c channel rails (of any kind), then it's not. I guess we should have worded it "the front, middle and rear section must be comprised entirely of structural tubework". I'll change the wording of the rules later when I'm on a real computer.

Well it does not have any C channel frame. But does have two flat pieces at the base That connect to the skid plate.

P.S. Who is in the Rule committee here in IL.? With all the scale events held in NIRC I would think it to be fair to have a member in IL to address our concerns . Some states don't have much scale but here up in Northern IL. we have more that our fair share.

So Guido is not a tuber.

Guido's ladder frame is made from 1/8" thick plate. It's not channel or tube. Does a frame have to be made from channel?

Oh, and a ladder frame can be made from tube. Square tube....

I've never considered Guido a tuber. I consider channel or flat plate to be the same. A tuber is when the chassis is made from round or square tube and it runs from the front to the rear all in one piece. I mean come on guys....we all know that there are many ways around all these rules. We had to make them simple so everyone can comprehend them. If you have a better way of defining them, please let me know.

Tuber.

Not a tuber.

I would like to have a IL. member in this Committee. We need a vote. We have a lot of scale event it is unfair to follow rules that we have no say.

This is starting to smell like a dictatorship.

The rules are done for this year. We will bring some new people in for next years revisions.

I built it as a truggy, but according to the current rules, the EB is a tuber.

No, it has a frame... I have never claimed it as a tuber, but a truggy.

Square tube?

Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean its not fair.

You don't have to follow the official rules on a local level. Nobody is telling you how to build and play with your toys.

Unless local rules follow official rules!
