The issue is these aren't knuckle weights.... their weighted knuckles.

(But I am not the sorrca committee) so... lol

Only by a play on words. Manufacturer wrote "Provides knuckle weight". Would love to see everyone's weights legal. Would like to see it go to vote through the entire community.

Are there any size or looks requirements on a roof rack for scale points?

Under the current rules, yes, they would be legal.
I'll leave my personal opinion out of this...

We need clarification.

SimoCanto86 (Member of the Regional Committee SORRCA Italy) in the post number 93
has asked you if a vacuum formed body in ABS (thickness of 1.5 mm ) is hardbody or not.
Same request for commercial Kamtec ABS vacuum formed body.

Unfortunately you have responded in different ways:

Post number 95 War Pig writes:

Yes, a vacuum formed body is considered a hardbody if it's made from a material other than lexan.
Post number 96 Big Daddy writes :

hardbody: can a 1.5/2mm thick abs vacuum formed body like this:
Quote:
Not a hardbody in my book.
or like the ones from kamtec...

Not sure, I'd have to look into them.
For us the answers are contradictory, and the need to have a clear response.

To my personal opinion, it's right to reward the hard body (ABS manufactured by molding) because they limit
the performance due to the high weight and stiffness.

In the case of vacuum formed body in ABS , the weight is lower than a body lexan
(the specific weight of the ABS material is less than the specific weight of Lexan material)
and they are not as stiff as the body manufactured by molding.

I ask you kindly to provide a single answer, we have already seen some manufacturers declare
these vacuum formed ABS Body SORRCA Legal...... but we would like to be sure of your judgment.

Thanks in advance

Is a spare rewarded scale points without a rim?

Under the current rules, bodies other than Lexan are eligible for hardbody points.
It is my opinion that they shouldn't be but that's an argument for another day.

Spare tire is rewarded under Functional Accessories, doesn't seem very functional without a wheel. I would not award points for it.

Although it's not spelled out that it must be on a rim, it's ridiculous to think a spare tire without a rim should get points. It has to be a spare tire that you could put on your rig and use to get points.

Again,it's not spelled out in the rules what constitutes a hardbody. As of right now, a vacuum formed ABS or styrene body can receive hardbody points. It's something that is being discussed and voted on in the scale rules committee. There's a REALLY good chance that any vacuum formed body will not receive hardbody points in the upcoming future. The scale rules will be quite a bit different for 2017.....just keep that in mind.

The guys at ecsc gave me the points. No where in the rules does it state it needs a rim.

Plus I've seen videos of guys Changing tires (without rims) on the trails

I guess we'll have to list it as a spare tire with rim in the rules. Just one more thing to add. Common sense would make the rule book a lot smaller 😎

That was their choice, at Nationals it wouldn't have been awarded points.

Is this on the list of things to be looked at for 2017? (crosses fingers)

What, to make knuckle weights legal? No it's not.

I was hoping for the opposite actually. These huge weighted knuckles differ from knuckle weights in name only.

I would definitely support that if/when it comes up, but it's not currently on the already lengthy docket.

I think they should bring back knuckle weights.

(Just require "anything brass must be painted to appear scale")

People already weight the inside of their wheels. It's just harder on cvds and drivetrain parts...
