Default Class 1 Tire Recommendations

Prefer to hear about tires that work with 1.9 wheels ...since that what I already have

I'm a big fan of the Proline TSL Swampers. Great performers in wet and dry.

I'm a big fan of the flash points, and MTZ's. The 1.55 growlers are also solid but you have to stretch them.

I know a guy in our local club is really liking the genius tires as well. He seems to do well with them but I have no first hand experience with them.

Really? I was pretty sure the regular ones meet C1 since they're only 4.2" tall. Guess I better double check the specs before I show up at the next comp!

***EDIT***
I just went and checked, indeed highmark is correct. The swampers are 4.3"tall which puts them out of C1. I had somehow gotten it in my head that they were 4.2"..

My bad.

Class 1 max tire size = 4.19, thus 4.2 is out as well (in SORRCA sanctioned events). Local clubs may allow 4.2 tires.

I wasn't sure if you were correcting yourself on the rules, or the TSL size.

With the right foams (CI) the mtz is a great tire.
I also have used the RC4WD Dick Cepek Mud country tires. They are by far my favorite, scale looks and grip.

I have had great luck with the MTZ and 1.7 IROKS

Both get better with time.

The new PB AT looks promising too

Rc4wd Baja claws (4.19 not the ttc) ssx2 compound are great.

Rc4wd 1.7 iroks ssx2 compound fit on 1.9 wheels and are the tallest tires available in class 1 and a great tire.

Pitbull 1.55 growlers are great, but I've never stretched them onto a 1.9.

Voodoo has a 3 4.19 tires coming soon for a 1.9 wheel also.

RC4WD 1.9 Sem Limites are a decent tire with proper foams.

I have these coming in tomorrow Pit Bull A/T Hardcore. I will report back after I use them later this week. Specs say 4.05X1.25 1.9. I am slowly converting my SCX10 ii to class 1.

So stretched tires are acceptable for c1? It says no tire mods so I wasn't sure if that meant you couldn't stretch them (hoping to stretch some 1.55s onto a set of 1.7 wheels) I'm very much newb-tastic to any comp stuff especially c1 lol

As long as the tire is a legal class 1 tire wheel size doesn't matter. Tire mods are referring to removing lugs, cutting the tire etc.

I'm casting another vote for the RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Claws with Crawler Innovations foams. I have them on my rig and it does better than I ever expected with small tires, I can do things that I have never done before with larger tires and surprise people every time we go out.

I love the RC4WD 106mm Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's. Especially when a little worn out (well all tires start working well when lugs start to round out).

Today 4 hours of trail riding at +2 °C (just above freezing point), and they performed flawlessly. Rig weights 4,5 kg with battery. 1.9" Pit Bull Rock Beast II foams inside. Works really, really well.
