Rule in question: • No bolt on or stick on external axle or knuckle weights of any kind

Would a Traxxas TRX-4 having a outer portal cover (this is not the knuckle, but touches it in a sense) made of Brass be allowable?
It is the knuckle. It is required for the knuckles to function properly.

No.

Incorrect. I think I've spent an abundance of time at this point talking about the difference between a knuckle weight and a heavy part. I think you probably get it, but just don't like the answer.

We will consider your opinion.

That was not the intention of the rule.

Then folks would just go to another material, or paint the brass stuff and cheat. Also, as mentioned, there are legitimate brass parts out there (knuckle bushings come to mind). I have some steel knuckles on my shelf that would give any of the brass parts a run for their money.

Adding some fuel to the fire here...

What is the difference between the brass portal covers on the TRX4, and brass beef tubes in a SCX10? They are both functional parts that add weight/mass down low.

No difference in terms of legality.

The kit SCX10-2 has a separate t-case so it gets points. I haven't looked at an actual TRX4 transmission, but I don't think it has a separate t-case does it?

No the tcase on the trx4 is built into half of the trans housing.

A scale accessory is an item added to a scale vehicle. Scratching a window is actually removing material.....no points

I don't have a dog in this race, but I like the window defroster idea...

I have brass wire that is close to the right diameter, but not nearly enough of it to get it installed by Friday's comp. Nor do I have that fancy conductive ink, where I could then wire it up too and get functional points, lol.

I have used a lot of bead sealer on junky old rims. Looks just like black CA.
