| Class two bumper?
"A front bumper is required and must be mounted to the vehicles rail chassis and must be wider than the outside of the chassis rails" I plan on working on a new rig, and what I have in my head will include having the front rails extend past the bodies front grill. I will be building a deck on top of the rails, then mounting a winch. Clearly does not meet the requirements. Here is what I am looking at doing. Now the question. I am looking for a solution. One possibility is to fab up a bumper in two parts, then bolt them to the rails in a position the would be flush with the grill of the body. A portion of the rail would still be forward of the bumper. Option two would be to integrate the winch mount deck into the bumper to make one solid piece, then bolt the whole thing in place. Could I get some thoughts on if it would meet the requirements? |

My first question would be what sort of tools do you have access to, and can you braze or weld? We have guys that run a small piece of metal that it bent to wrap around the front of the rails. You could do that, and affix the D ring tabs/tow hooks on to that, and mount your fairlead in the middle. Make the winch deck a separate piece. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

Just make sure you build something that looks like a bumper and is wider than the frame. Shouldn't be hard.
