| SORCCA - KLR tire
Where does SORCCA stand on this tire, myself I think it's scale enough looking to a few 1:1 tires. Before I send the money though, was hoping to get the opinions of those who are in the know about where they might pass/ban this tires. |

In my opinion, it is a scale appearing tire that resembles the Maxxis Race Trep. It also fits with the size rules as well.

I have no issues with it, and it hasn't come up in the committee at all. It's more scale looking than a few others we allow. Order away!

They do meet the size requirments and as mentioned they do resemble the Race Trep. I will also add, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. |

I’ve wondered this before, what about class 1? I’m not sure they had the 4.19 version when this post was made, but now that they have been out a while, I tried doing a search and didn’t find anything. KLR is to represent a cut trep. Cut tires are not allowed in class one. Also, the 4.19 Hyrax(awful looking tire, grabs great but looks terrible). Allowing those tires to compete when a scale tire with a branded side wall that actually looks appropriate isn’t allowed to be run with the same tread pattern seems a little off the point of the scale rules. For example, a klr is allowed, if someone released a 4.19 trep, they wouldn’t be allowed to cut it for class one, so why is the klr legal? Hyrax- they just look fawking ugly when surrounded by scale 1:1 branded tires. So do we get to lightly sipe or groove our class one tires now, or is the tire ban list due to grow a bit? The performance of the KLRs is disappointing on anything other than perfectly dry rocks... YMMV |

I don’t really care about their performance. I’ve seen them work new vs nearly bald(nearly bald seems to be so much better). I know plenty who love them out where I am, and I don’t see them as a bad tire. Just wondering why they aren’t on the ban list for class 1 or why the rule is still there(aside from the goal of not seeing chopped up tires on everyone’s rig). Just seems like a contradiction to me is all. Although I’ve looked into trying a set of KLR’s for a C2 build that would look right with cut up tires. Every time I’m in the market for a set of tires, RC4WD has something that looks perfect for my builds. |
