| New Quicksand 8274 Winches
These are the coveted 8274 winches that have been previously sold through MSD. For those of you that may not know, these are a scale replica of the unstoppable Warn 8274. Just like its 1:1 winch the scale version sets a new standard to follow. These little guys pack a mean punch. These winches will be available starting Sept.1 . the first run will be approx. 30. If you have been in the market for the last scale winch you will ever need to buy, or simply want the best constructed/hardest pulling/longest lasting winch then this is your winch. I have several of these winches, I personally take the servo board off of the winches and wire them directly to a B1R w/ a 4 cell cap. thus allowing me to be able to run the winch off of 14v.( generating a line speed of about a foot per 1.5 sec) This has been done on some for several years with no failures. "CAUTION" If you decide to order one of these and set it up in the above mentioned fashion, great care should be taken to avoid injury!!!! There is several videos around that show this winch pulling a full size Toyota pickup (on a shop floor) @ 7.0 volts. Another video shows it pulling a Jeep Cherokee on a gravel road. (I will try and link those) Let me stress that these will not dissappear from the market as they will be sold direct from the original designer(I'm just helping him out). Also keep in mind Neil is a machinist and does this product out of a love for it, therefore he is not making a living off of this product and will be building them in his spare time. Neil is a man of his word and a great guy to deal with. All orders will go through his E-mail. If you have any general questions about this product then you can pm me or send it to the following email. All Orders should be placed here: Quicksandcustoms@comcast.net The price for these will be 225.00 shipped in the US. Shipping charges will apply shipped anywhere else. This product has an amazing attention to detail *winches come with a machined stainless hook and an aluminum fairlead* Last edited by SDS Customz; 07-24-2011 at 06:06 PM. |

Hello, I thought it might be a good time for me to jump in and give a quick introduction and history. I don't think most people know this, but it was a friend of mine and myself that designed the QS8274 back in '07 and made the prototype used by Grizzly4x4. It was originally built for the fun of it and not necessarily production. We wanted this winch to look good and pull better, so we designed it around the most powerful servo we knew of, the Hitec 5955TG. We weren't really designers, and only marginal machinists, so I am very happy that it has proven itself well. Since then, I have made about 40 and assembled all but the last 11, which I do not know the status of. After the 1st batch was sold by MSD, I had intended to continue producing them but had some problems that ended my machining capabilities for over a year. Then for other reasons, more time went by 'til this year, when Ben/MSD urged me to start another small batch. Then a call from John at SDS Customz Spurred me to get them finished and sent out days before the MSD scale Nat'ls. For a couple of reasons, I have made the decision to offer them directly. They will be sold in an assembled, but unwired form. If you wish to purchase them ready to run from MSD, that may still be an option in the future. (provided Ben and I work out the details) I am telling you this to clear the air a little on the whole situation and to take full responsibility for the time that has gone by with no availability. I do have to stress that the release date of Sept. 1 is my goal, but not certain. Since I have only 1 machine, parts will be made as the opportunity presents itself. I will, however, try my best to get 30 of them done close to that time. (About half done now) That being said, I will not ask for, or except any payment until I have them ready to ship. That may have to happen in 2 batches of about 15, because I most likely won't be able to drop $3,000 for servos. However, if you are interested in getting in on the next batch, please contact me at the fore mentioned email address. I would also like to quickly thank those who have helped me too this point. My parents, friend (and co-designer) Dan, Chris, Ben, Ben at MSD and John of SDS Customz. Neil QuickSand Customs Last edited by QUICKSAND; 07-30-2011 at 09:26 PM. |

Good to hear and thank you for building these again. I have heard nothing but good things about these winches. I want to be in line for the first batch, if I'm not to late. finger on the Paypal button. |

At this point, this next run has all been spoken for. Everyone that I have received an e-mail from so far, will get the winch (or winches) they requested. If you would like to be in line in case someone backs out, let me know. If nobody does, I'll put you down for the run after this. Not sure when that may be, but I will try my best to keep parts going when I can. Thanks to everyone that has shown interest, and I will keep you posted on progress. Neil QS Customs |

Sorry guys, been busy. In the middle of a big job right now, so last couple components have to wait 'til machine is free. Hope to get back at them after this next week. Sorry it takes so long, will keep you posted.

Will finally have time this weekend to work on winch parts again. With some luck, I hope to start assembling in a couple weeks. I have not sent any updates via email, unless somebody contacts me for one. Just been posting status here. Progress is still made as I get the chance, it's the best I can do. When they are ready to go, I will send out emails in addition to posting here. Thanks for being patient. |
