I know they aren't but the plastic used makes them look like gel...

Yes..it does look like it, however it is very strong. We decided not to pre paint them so that they can be kustomized by the builder."thumbsup"

What carrier do you use? And what would the normal shipping price be to say, Miami or San Diego? How would that differ from Honolulu? Would I be expected to cover the "new" shipping cost on top of the $60 that includes shipping in NA?

See, sometimes people either forget or are not educated enough to know that Hawaii is part of the USofA. I'm not sure how you ship from Canada, but from the USPS, a flat rate box ships for exactly that, a flat rate. Regardless of where it's from & going.
