SCX10 on Losi Axles

I like the extra ground clearance and smoothness of the worm drive axles for super slow crawlin'.

Nice job on the video my man! My attention span tends to wonder but I watched it start to finish.

Are you running the SCX tranny or the Losi tranny?

The losi axles definitely make it look more scale. Looks much better than 55 gal drum proportioned differential.

Glad you liked it. Thanks for the comment. "thumbsup" I'm still running the stock plastic SCX10 trans.

I'm not a fan of those things either. Meh

If you swap in the Losi transmission, your wheelspeed will greatly improve with no ill affects to crawlability. Nice vid btw! I love Losi Scalers!"thumbsup"

Thanks for the tip. "thumbsup" That's good to know. I will try that soon.

I just got the HD 21T 21:1 (LOSA3187) gear set and hope to test them out this weekend.

The HD gears is a fantastic upgrade.

If you are liking the Losi platform, there are a few more upgrades to make it a killer ride!

Let me know if you swap in a Losi trans (and if so, which one. LNC or LCC)
I can fill you in on a few losi specific set-ups to allow slow precise crawling with great wheelspeed. And its darn near bulletproof!"thumbsup"

I whipped up a roll bar for the 'yota last weekend and ran out of time to swap in the upgrade Losi gears.
I plan to try the new gears this weekend though and will make a video showing before/after for comparison to see how noticeable they are.

Sweet. Which one is better? LNC or LCC

I found a few of them here:

Re: SCX10 on Losi Axles

Well the big question is what are your intentions...

I build all my scale trucks to SORRCA rules because I compete with them. Mainly in Class 3 (Modified Class). For a Class 3 truck, I prefer the LCC trans with DIG.

For everything else (and even a Class 3 truck with 4 wheel steering) I would run the Night Crawler Trans. Its very light, compact, and bulletproof once you add these Hot Racing Gears:

Hot Racing Losi Night Crawler Steel Center Gear Set SNCR1000T | eBay

Next in line will be your power...
I highly suggest running a sensored brushless set-up. If you ever read any of my build threads, I have pretty much dialed in Losi Scalers from a performance standpoint, and the best thing is, you can do it with old / outdated (CHEAP ) technology!

In my opinion, A Mamba Max Pro is a must have ESC for the simple fact it can run high voltages.

Here are my combos for each trans:

1.) LCC Trans (Class 3 use only with 5.75" dia tire)
Novak 18.5 or 17.5 motor
MMP ESC
Castle 10 amp BEC
4S
12T pinion

2.) LNC Trans
Novak 13.5
MMP ESC
Castle 10 amp BEC
3S battery
15T pinion (5.75dia tire)
19 or 20 T pinion ( 4.75 dia tire)

Last thing I would address are the axles:
IF IF IF! You will be running the sensored brushless combos above, then PACK YOUR AXLES FULL of grease! Either the blue Losi grease with the HD worms, or Lucas Red&Tacky. I mean FULL like oozing out when you screw the cases together!

Sure there is more resistance, but the grease will keep mud and water out, AND it will suck the heat out of the worms when running long distances associated with scale trucks.

Don't ever let anyone tell you you cant Scale a Losi! You'll find you have 1% of the problems an Axial guy will have if set up this way! And no need for aluminum knuckles or C's or any of that BS!:flipoff:

This is my first Losi Scale truck I built. It has (literally) over 250 miles on it! I change the grease in the axles once a year, have 2 years of service (so far) on my HD gears with no sign of failing, AND, all bearings are original from 2009! Before and after each trail run, I squirt the wheel bearings and drive shaft u-joints with wd-40. Hope this helps and GO TEAM LOSI !"thumbsup"

Re: SCX10 on Losi Axles

I know this is an ancient post. but i'm dragging it back up.

i now own 3 night crawlers. i just bought 2 (in addition to the one i had) for 200 bucks. that was hard to beat. My plan is to use one of them for my scx10 (trans/axles) and the other i'll toss a cool body on and make it just something to play with... the kids do well with them since they're slow and pretty durable.

the guts of the one i'm stealing the trans/axles out of MAY get the SCX stuff just because i have it laying around lol
