Default Ultimate scale FPV cockpit driving.

Here is my latest project on 10428A/K949 platform, with ESS-ONE sound engine of V8 turbo. Power up sense of realism driving from driver seats.

Thanks, took lots of effort to keep the build within budget but the results was satisfying.

Thats great! You need to hit the trails, that would make for epic footage from the driver's perspective. You say hit the budget, what does a setup like that even cost? Will it survive roll overs. Suggestion #2. Put that stuff on an XO-1 and go blaze those streets again!!!! That would be a new way to race.

About the cost assume you already have your truck and atleast 4CH radio controller, below are the list needed to convert your trucks into FPV and totally scaled stuff. The cost is approximate valued at minimum budget. Yes with all those electronics clum together it will survive rolls and crashes, this clone Twin Hammer survived bashes and tumbled down the hill too.

  • FPV video goggle = $120
  • FPV video transmitted 5.8ghz 600mw = $17
  • FPV video camera with HD recordable = $49
  • FPV OSD module (the HUD that layout voltage/time on screen) = $20
  • 2x 9g Metal gear servo for steering and driver helmet camera panning = 2x $5 = $10
  • ESS-ONE sound system module = $75
So total you're looking at: USD$291 to work on your FPV trucks with scaled functions inside the cockpit.
On the ground the video transmission like above spec can let you travel about 1KM (1000m), well depends what radio controller you use and how you mods the antenna's. I'm using $60 4CH RADIO LINK RC4G that had hidden radio booster from factory.

Can't afford for XO-1 yet sadly.

Below are some video of my old FPV in-cockpit driving car/truck projects but unlike the above no ESS-ONE sound engine.

Drove FPV for the first time this past weekend. Gotta admit, i'm kinda getting the itch to do it myself. Kudos on doing it with this rig! And thanks for the break down on cost!

Does the wltoys 10428A come with plastic differential gears? I went with the feiyue fy03 which has metal diff gears but is 1/12 scale instead of 1/10.

Thanks, there's a reason why i put the antenna infront because its the most furthers part of the truck where i could isolate radio receiver away from noisy RF (radio interference) source such as servo, esc, engine sound speaker, motor and video transmitter unit because this stuff can be 'noisy' at the back. If the receiver is not knock by RF noise the truck can travel extremely far beyond 1km range on stock antenna. Its been done quite a lot with same placement on my FPV plane without much modification on radio.

You're welcome. Keep it up you'll love driving like real truck inside the cockpit. Its evolution of R/C.

My stock 10428A and other 1:10 scale cloned VT including K949 all have metal differential gears.

I'm very impressed by the image quality in your videos! Would you be able to post more specific information like the brand name and part number for these FPV components? Links would be even better, but I know that's asking a lot.

There are list of parts mentioned about mid front of the video clip but i will write an article about my truck FPV setup soon which list parts, build schematics and etc. Will post at this threads soon to make it easier to see the whole picture.

Looking forward to it! Starting out in FPV is intimidating but I'm not afraid to make the investment if I know how to get good results like yours.
