Nothing like seeing some other truck put yours to shame, I've been there.

Shaving off some weight from the Defender body offers a great improvement and is also free and easy. I just recently removed my roof rack and shaved of weight where ever I could. I mostly drilled holes in things, lol. Another thing I did was to cut some material out of the middle supports on the exocage in order to get it tighter which also helps to reduce the rattles you'll get after removing the roof rack (credit goes to Rockhugger). you can see the pictures here HumboldtEF's Evolving TRX-4

Also on the subject of pushing the front bumper forward, this is a big no no with crawlers. I see why you did it but ideally you'd want it up as high as possible and as tucked in as possible for the best possible approach angle which keeps you from getting hung up so easily. In the link I posted I show a few mods using a SSD front bumper and raising it as much as possible notching it into the grill in a very stealth way.

I've yet to try 2.2 tires but I would say they arent necessary and are likely to hurt performance due to the raised center of gravity. Sure you'll get over some bigger rocks easier but you might find yourself rolling a lot more too.

I'd focus on "adding lightness" where possible (mostly the body) and maybe adding some brass weight up front like the portal covers.

Theres a great shock mod for the stock shocks that essentially swaps out the spacer that goes in between the 2 O-rings (X-rings) making it looser and much smoother and it still holds oil just fine. it uses Traxxas rebuild kit 2362 Has anyone rebuilt their shocks yet? (I believe credit should probably go to binaryterror) this mod makes the stock shocks much smoother and less likely to be sticky.

Lot of good tips in this old thread TRX4 Mods

Removing the spare tire and re-configuring the back gate at the bottom of this post TRX4 Mods

Good to see you messing with crawlers again!
