![]() Project X will be my 2nd go at a scale tube rock crawler. It will start off a little slow because I just moved and have not gotten all my welding equipment set up yet, so bare with me. Project Gravelmaker by sceep linky-> http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It will be a 4 seater but I may have to compromise on the portal axles. I will run the RC4WD planetary trans and killer transfer case, to get as close to the original as possible.

I just found it yesterday on http://www.offroadfabnet.com/? I spent most of the day going over the build and decided to model this rig instead of a main stream rig like I did before. I was planing on a 1.9 scale X chassis but as I began laying it out it was a very plain design. My 2.2 scale rig has a lot of detail so I need to raise the bar on this build.

Very nice Jesse, your skills are off the hook. Replicating that buggy is right up your alley. We need to hook up so you can help me do a exo on my Mog.

Alright I have the specs worked out it will have a
12 1/4" WB 4 7/8" width at the chassis 9 1/4" over all height 3 1/8" ground clearance 17 1/2" chassis length 5 1/8" chassis height 9 1/2" over all width Now I have to start measuring for tubing runs and I can begin building this beast. Oh I'm going to have to run a 2.2 wheel and tire, it does not look right with a 1.9 rim and tire combo.

This is going to be the most interesting part of the build. This nose area is going to be compact, but it has to be able to hold a winch. I need to see what options are out there. The MSD Scale 8274 Winch looks to fit the bill but is too expensive for my budget and I think it maybe to big. The stage 3 winch is too weak for the stuff I end up doing so I will need to keep searching. Plus, I will need to get creative for the steering on this thing. The radiator would be an obvious place but I will have to see what I can do to hide the servo.

I just hope I can live up to the hype. My last build turned out pretty good.
![]() I'm hoping for more scale appearance and performance from this one.

this is so cool.
I'm flattered that someone has decided to copy my rig. if you need any other dimension's or pics or anything let me know and i'll get em to you ASAP. what are the odds of you wanting to sell it when its done? (after you get some trail time in of course) i'd be all over that. Last edited by sceep; 03-20-2009 at 01:56 PM. |

But Sceep gets the credit he built the original. Here is a link to his build on OFN http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17 It is an awesome rig and a very original design, that is why I decided to make a scale version. I have been looking for a few months.

What motor are you running? I was wanting the t-case you got for mine, but I wasnt sure about the 1:1 gearing. I want something a lot lower like the Crawler Case. Have you decided how to gear yours down?
