I had a 1s 610mah hard case lipo cell from a PS3 controler that my husky got a hold of.
So I was sitting there with another set of dead batteries and decided to do something about it. The way I wired it you can still install AAs if you want or need to. ![]() ![]() ![]() I figure if it does not last long it will work in a pinch if you have no batteries. I will update the thread when I have performance numbers.

Um sweet! I keep all my old PS3 controllers for parts. Never thought of using the battery. Is that 4.2v fully charged? I don't like running my batterys much lower than 4.2 just because I'll forget to change them before the next comp lol.

Just think though if you run 2 cells in parallel you could get even more run time. My thought was to use this as a back up plan. But if the cell can handle a few hours of use then so be it.

How does this work, 4 AA batteries are 6v and a 1 cell lipo is 3.7 if im not mistaken? what about the missing volts.

The radio, I think, runs on 3.8 volts... maybe 3.2, I forget. So 4.2 of a single cell lipo will do the job. Regardless of the input voltage, electrical items that run off of a dc power source typically will have some sort of voltage regulator. Step Down Linear or the more efficient Switching type regulators will output what ever voltage the actual radio requires as long as the input voltage is above the output value. When the input falls below the output value, the output value will then begin to drop until your unit shuts off. So 6, 4.8, 4.2 volts they'll all work. |

Maybe if you chucked one of those novak smart boost things that put ouyt 6v from 1s lipo. Then you could run it until your lipo hits 3-3.3 Hmm I might get one of those smart boost and a tiny lipo and use it in my dx6i.

3+ hours still connected 3.5v.
Maybe 4v for the dx6i airplanes don't crash that way.

I think the older DSM1's came unbound(is that a word lol) at 4v or a little under. Time to tear apart my old controller thats impressive. Is that just leaving it on or are you applying load to it as well like as if you were running a truck with it.

At 5:21.53 @ 6' the RX would not stay connected to the TX. The voltage was flashing between 3.2v and 3.1v. I think I may just stay with the lipo pack and charge it before every comp or event as I do with all my packs.
Just think a 2s lipo wired parallel could last 10 hours. And If I have the right plug somewhere around here. I could make it all internal through the charge jack. As mentioned before this was just a drunken experiment and should not be tried at home.

I wondered why no battery manufacturer hasn't came out with a lipo for radios like 4pk and dx3r??
