Default Question for those with MSD wheels...

I just bought a set and had a feeling that the stock axial hex would need to be modified. Is this what everone running these wheels is doing? Or is there a hex they are buying?
What did you guys do? Or what hexes are you using?

Thanks!

Can't speak for MSD but there are two things you can do on your end to fix this. One drill the through hole larger so the hex will set further down or run a flat hex like you have. You have a high quality wheel and to mod the hex is not that big a deal.

My theory has always been that modding the hex was the best option. Hexes run around $6.00 decent wheels $100 and up. Why would I want to risk damaging the wheels with those numbers?

I have been running the MDS wheels for almost 2 years....initially they were on my Axial comp rig, and I had to shave the hex to make the fit proper. Eventually these ended up on my Bully build, and those flat hexes fit just fine. I had also run some aftermarket hexes that were already flat...and those fit the MSD wheels as well. I really like my MSD's....so shaving the hex is worth it.

Shave the hex. It's the better thing to do.

I haven't shaved them just yet. The pictures are someone else who shaved theirs. I don't mind shaving them.
I just thought if there was an easy hex that could be purchased, then I would stop by my lhs and purchase them.

Xirtic -Do you know what aftermarket hex your purchased that was already flat?

I used the one above FIRST and put the slightly wider units in the front.

I then switched to the 12mm HEX from the CEN MAGNUM Nitro Stadium Truck. These are NICE. (I had a MAGNUM laying around, and stole the HEX's as a trial...and kept them on the crawler)

Thanks for the replies guys. I ended up shaving my hex like you see in the above pictures. It worked perfect. The aluminum shaves down like butter. I will keep these links you sent though for future reference.
