ive kinda wondered why all this beefing up is needed as ive never broken anything on my crawler and i dont take it easy, however i only run a 35t 6s nimh and a 645 servo. a friend of mine has a goat brushless on 2s lipo and he breaks knuckles and hubs. i can see with the powerful motors and insane torque servos that things will break.

You add beef for the simple reason that shit breaks.

I like the idea that I can hand my rig(any of them) to my 6 year old and he cannot break it.

EDIT:

Here's the definition of "break"

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/break

"to smash, split, or divide into parts violently; reduce to pieces or fragments"

Here's the definition of "beef"

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/beef

"to add strength, numbers, force, etc., to; strengthen"

Despite all the warnings from other crawlers to upgrade this and that before it breaks, I though I'd wait until it did break.

One cracked knuckle is all I've had break so far, from the kit. But two burnt servos though !

Finesse not force

Upgrade as needed. All depend on how you drive. Me and the Wife have the same rig, my driveshafts lasted well over 100 hours, hers broke at her second comp.

you guys that are so proud about not breaking and still running stock stuff;

you notice that most of you are running 645mg's for steering servos.....

in my experience, that servo will burn up well before stock parts will break...

thats why i consider the 645 a dig servo

Now just because I talked about it, I grenaded another two plastic knuckles just today after work. I guess the 8711 is slowly taking its' toll on parts. Maybe it is time for some high steer knuckles. I've been trying to find an excuse anyhow...

Yeah, you're right about that. I ran my truck for 10 min before I broke a steering knuckle, but I'm using over 420 inoz of torque!

i think it mostly depends on the driver. i have a ax10 that i have never done any real upgrades to. other than a comp chassie. its a 645 servo and all stock plastic parts right down to the drive shafts. the guys i crawl with cant believe i dont break parts but honestly i never have broken anything on it. but on the other hand i have a berg crawler that i comp with and its BEEFED to the max for the simple reason i like the security. it does not break. what im saying is even if you dont need a beefy truck because of your driveing style its still nice to put a compleat crawler in the corner at the end of the day and not have to start replaceing broken parts.

Beef it up. We had a guy at our last comp that broke his rc4wd r2 trans. Better to fix it before you break on the clock.
