I took the slider motor out (which seemed quiet enough) and ran the scale rig tonight to check the lights.
Sounds god-awful. Is it supposed to sound like this? If not, what should I check? Also, I wasn't aware but are these MRC's fitted with a slipper clutch? Looked like it as at one point the motor was turning and the wheels werent. I hope its a slipper clutch, lol. See what you think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwy4XG97dNo |

Check to see if the gear mesh is too tight.
Try it with the body off to see how it sounds. |

It sounds like a winch for a 1:1 rig.
Yes they come with a slipper. Maybe tighten it up some. |

That's a little worse than what mine sounded like when I had the gear mesh too tight, but that sounds like the problem. I'd just try to play with the gear mesh until it sounds right to you, that's what I did.

I'll try the gear mesh first but I don't know for sure if this is the original pinion either. I bought the MRC used and the guy gave me the stock motor/pinion separately since it had a slider in it. The slider sounded fine when it was in it. He could have threw on a pinion to the stock motor and it could be wrong too...I'll figure it out but now I know for sure its got something wrong so I wont run it till I sort it out.
Thanks. |

check the pitch of the gears you want the pinion and spur to be the same that could be whats causing all that noise but it does sound like the mesh is to tight
