Order of importance for a 1.9?

Before I start the thread I would like to say I have read most of the noobs stickies. They are really great threads to teach you what to do. There is SO many options it makes a rookie think WOW what to do first. So, that brings me to the question. Starting with a Stock 1.9 Losi MRC. What is the order of importance to get this thing comp ready? Lets try to keep a small budget in mind. Some spending is ok . (Just as an example... Humm... Do I go for a new chassis like the GC-3 or may be I should get a new motor first?) Also, If there is all ready a post like this one Please link it. (I have looked and not found it.) I know it can be a matter of opinion,But this can give us a good Idea where to start.

So far I would start off by trying to lower your COG. Move the battery down to the front axle. Then make up a some electronics trays for the 3-links. Move you electronics down onto the upper links. Once this is done you can cut out the "top plate" This will lower your cog a lot.
After that I would start to add wheel weight. I am running about 3 ounces in each front and about 1.5 ounces in the rear tires.

Chassis, Shocks, Tires, Weight, Lockers, cheap $15 slider motor when the stocker burns out.

That's all I have spent and all you will need to.

Is there a "Free Mods to do" thread or anything because i would think that would be helpful for the new guys to know what the free options are since everyone suggest those first. Figured since that is kinda where this thread was headed i would throw that out there. If there is such thread i missed it in the past several months of being a member and IT SHOULD BE A STICKY as well. couple of cents for ya.

Tires first don't worry about the motor till later. get some chisels or some of novas cut and shut cobra's, move all electronics as low as possible, on upper links. As for a new chassis just look around and see what people are running then go from there BWD new wedge chassis looks very promising, you can also find good used chassis in the classifieds, that is the order I did it in tires, chassis, then electronics, but that was just me

First and foremost, I would start with the items that will break first. The front, center and rear lockers. Buy the metal ones. It doesn't matter if you get the aluminum or steel ones. They're cheap, like $10 from RCBros. Then I would go for tires because the stock ones are not going to perform as well as the aftermarket ones will. Next, add wheel weight and lower all of the electronics. Beyond that, get used to your rig and play with the set up. Never make too many adjustments at one time or you won't know which thing you did improved or destroyed your performance.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. This thread will help out some. So far on average the motor tends to be one of the least things to worrie about. Remember to please stick to the topic. This thread is not a how to,or "go do the free mods" thread. Lets keep throwing up what you feel it the most important order to do the mods in.

Lockers, front and rear, first. The center is optional, but will need to be changed eventually.
Tires next - you will need to get some beadlocks or do the stock beadlock mod to the stockers
Then by the time you add weight to those, you will probably need a new servo - a hitec 645 will do nicely.

First - Free mods ( limit shocks, move elec, relocate batt & make servo mount for standard servo)

2- New Tires, Beadlocks and weights.

3- Lockers

I have read tat alot and never realized all the free mods were in there. must have overlooked them.

I did the free mods then tires and the wheel mod, then aluminum beadlocks then chassis then f/r lockers and now i am ordering a Mixer and shock and 645 to wrap things up. Once all of that is done i will just wait till i see what i need next.

TIRES...TIRES...TIRES! The stock tires feel like there made out of high bounce ball rubber and suck BIG time!

Then lower your CG, relocate electronics as low as possible, limit internaly the shocks, etc. <<<<FREE MODS!

The order I have done mine soo far.

I did new tires (Losi Rock Bashers), Weight in the front and rear wheels. Stock beadlock mod. Just recently finished my Stage 1 chassis mod. Lower COG, and lowered the whole vehicle. Next will be 4-link set up and maybe custom chassis. I've had no problems with the lockers or motor... Maybe later.....

Just keep playing with it and do a little bit every now and then. After a while of working in a course you will find yourself getting through it faster and easier make it more challenging and add more mods to overcome the difficuly of the course...
