| Indoor Crawling Spot in Salem, VA
With the blessing of our local hobby store, several of us have been working on an indoor crawling facility for folks in Southwest Virginia. The course is mostly made of natural rock stacked onto a series of platforms that step up and down. There is a challenging V trough along the back of it as well. There are some other man made elements with challenging terrain that can be easily move around along with several bridges. For the time being the terrain is mostly suited to 2.2 comp syle rigs and "capable" scale type rigs. As terrain gets added in the future, we are going to try and balance things a little more for scale and 1.9 trucks. We get together "offically" on Friday nights and stay until about 11pm, but the course is open for use any time the store is open for business. Last night we had 5 trucks running and had 3-4 stop by that were not ready to run yet. I expect 10+ truck turnouts in the near future. Here is the Location: Crossroads Hobbies and Crafts 1104 W. Main Street Salem, VA 24153 540 387-3414 Here are some pictures of the course so far: |

Last night was fun. We had a total of 9 trucks show up and play. At one point we had a 7 truck follow the leader mach going on. I guess next we need to try and lay some courses out. It should be easy to mark some out that will make most men cry... I tried my 1.9 scaler out on the course last night as well. It got nowhere fast on the rocks. It is not as easy as it looks in the pics guys. |

I hope to make it out there tonight. My father has been sick, so I haven't had much time to do anything at all recently. The course is coming along very nicely...

I just ordered an AX-10 today, I will be joining you guys soon I hope. BTW, I went to Walrond park wednesday with my super. That place is a good spot, a bit narrow for a super but still cool. I only managed to bend a suspension link, steering link, broke an axle tube and ripped the body post off of the front. Not bad for my first time at "LIL Moab".....LOL

the course looks good, I did not even know you were building it in the back. I'll have to stop by and see it. I haven't stopped in in a while. I used to race 12th scale and monster trucks in the back.

The crawling still going strong up there? Been a busy summer for me, so I haven't had a chance to get up there. Things are slowing down now, so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things soon...

I don't think that a lot of folks have been going up there regularly. Once the weather cools down the Friday night crowd will be back in. Also, I'll bet that there are a lot of Losi Minis that show up...
